The most positive read this year..

If this team can run the ball, limit penalties, and win the TO margin there is no reason they can't win 8 games.
Throw in avoid major injury's or a lot of them and it could even be better than that. The team is not devoid of talent. Thin in spots, but there is talent on the team.

Unbelievable, but I agree. We have the talent. I just shake my head at the people claiming "the cupboards are bare".

The cupboards are pretty bare on the offensive line. Seriously, what will the depth chart look like in 2010?

And at QB, and we're thin at defensive line. So in other words, the cupboards are bare at the three most important areas of a football team.

Playmakers are nice but they're a dime a dozen.

i want to get back to that three yards and a cloud of dust offense again, because any other kind of offense is not going to be pretty w/ our QB situation.

It'll look like 5 guys from 6'2" to 6'6" between 265 and 310 lbs each. Just like it looks every year.

"..[The offense] knows they can run the ball and they know they can pass the ball."

That's HUGE. One of the first things the offense needed this year was an attitude adjustment and it looks like that's taking place. I just hope and pray that translates on the field on game days...especially in the passing game. All we really need is the QB to protect the ball and move the offense down the field efficiently...it'd be nice if they could do more, but that's probably asking too much.

Except they'll be dominated by Freshman and Sophmores. That's a sign that the cupboard is not so full. :whistling:

Probably some JC pickups as well. But the fact is, there just aren't a lot of options on that offensive line right now.

I think thats the biggest problem that UT has in attempting to recruit a high profile QB right now. Look at the Oline of 2010... Not much to write home about.

Isn't UT going to lose like 5 or 6 guys to graduation this year?

We will likely start 4 seniors on the OL this year.

Well...were not vandy. The lines are thin enough that if we have the injury bug hit us it could be a bad situation. If we don't get steady play from whoever plays qb its all a moot point anyway. Next year we start all over again, on the offensive line and at the qb position. Those years are rarely stellar, if ever. We'll cross that bridge when we get there. There is a season to be played and another recruiting class to go through before any of that matters.

Good to hear that the offense is taking it to the D a bit this year. For the past few years it has seemed to me that the D always got the majority of the headlines. I am really enjoying the TFP's articles much more than most articles that I read about UT.

So Zook left the cupboards bare at UF since you started 5 freshmen linemen a couple years ago?

i also cannot believe the number of posters on here that has the attitude that we cannot beat florida.that they will be satisfied just to keep it close.come on poeple.
i expect the VOLS to win everytime they set foot on the playinf field.
maybe they won't win everytime out,but i will not accept the theme of them just staying close.:rock::eek:k:

I believe the coaching staff is instilling the will to win in this team. I'm starting to believe that the guys are coming to the conclusion that losing is an unacceptable outcome. Sorta like a breath of fresh air after the last several years.

Very good point hman. My biggest complaint over the last few years has been that the guys had gotten "comfortable" with losing.

And it's hard to overestimate the destructive nature of that mindset.
