well, i guess we're right back where we started a few weeks ago.
a few thoughts as we go forward and close the book on this ugly chapter of the TN/Bama series.
-all week prior to the game, in usual fashion, there was a lot of fan fare for this game and it's nostalgia. And we know how much CPF feels that as well, and he's not afraid to tell you about it either. on the other side of the fence, CNS is calling it just another game, not sure what all the hub bub is about. well, i don't know about you, but it seemed to me that we had the pucker factor on to about level 10, and CNS and the tide simply got prepared for a game.
-no dancing around it today. CPF got out coached in a big way yesterday. from start to finish, the on side kick, the going for it on 4th downs, the excecution of his game plan..i think maybe for a few penalties, Ns has to be happy with how it worked out. and on the other side, we got the epitomy of the ever so famous "play not lose" game plan. Punt on 4th and 1 at their 47 down by 10. (remember, Bama scored on the ensuing possesion to boot). No Montario Hardesty. Lennon Creer on 4th down play? and absolutlely NO pressure on JPW all day long. we played off the line, rushed, 3-4 most times, and when we did blitz it was too late in coming.
yet, despite all of that i find myself rather calm. sure i had an episode or two during the 1st half, but minus a few obsenities i spent the rest of the day being farily calm and enjoying the KY/FL and Aub/LSU games.
i'm not sure why. no pressure of SEC title? maybe. knowing we just aren't that good? probably.
maybe my expectations are starting to adjust? we may be on to something.
or maybe it's just that now there's no where else to hide. that if we do lose again, what in the end does it matter? i'll be rooting for us to win....don't get me wrong. but hey, a loss now, so what. so we go to the Liberty bowl or independence bowl, or maybe we go to no bowl. :mf_surrender:
at least it might save the embarrasment of a possibility of another beat down.
anyone still disappointed this wasn't a national TV game of the week?:banghead2:
what does this mean to CPF's future? it didn't help. losing to bama and fl in spectacular fashion will do little for even the staunchest CPF supporter. and with games left against arch nemesis SOS, and perrennial door mat KY, that could both beat us......it may get worse....but who knows. maybe the team that beat GA will show up the rest of the season???:birgits_giggle:
the SC game may very well be one of the uglier games in th SEC this year. and i don't know abouy y'all, but KY officially scares me now.
try to enjoy the rest of your weekend folks.
