or will it be for the worse?

NC St. got their man fast. There is noway they weren't in talks beforehand.

If Auburn or Arky get their man before us, what does that leave us? Are we competing with the same coaches?

I have a feeling AU will take a chance on Petrino, they are already looking down the barrel of the ncaa, so what do they care what it looks like.

We need the very best coach our money will buy, sounds simple huh? No compromises, just the best we can get.
If not, we're screwed for the next 5-10 years.

Petrino has no NCAA baggage, he's available for anyone with no consequence.

The longer we wait could be better or worse depending on how you look at it. Longer meaning the coaches we are goin after still have meaningful games left. But there seems to be a hard limit imo on how long we can wait. We have got to have a coach in time to recruit before the dead period begins. That's an absolute must imo. If the hire is after or during the dead period, it better be a real home run.

See we actually have a decent recruiting class right now. Especially if you think about how wretched our season has been. We need to calm and reassure those commits so they don't go elsewhere. So if a coach is hired after the dead period of recruiting, then our already committed players will have an awfully long time to ponder things.

I think the point is some other sought after coaches might pass on Auburn because of possible NCAA sanctions. Whereas, Petrino is desperate and would take that opportunity in a heartbeat.

Not if he had an offer from UT.

Key difference is NC State and Doeren is a good fit.

If UT can't land Charlie Strong, then what's a good fit beyond that?

Unfortunately we're gonna piss the opportunity away and somebody (probably AU) will wind up with him and win 10+ games a year while we remain mediocre.

Your not telling me anything, I've been preaching this dude since before Gruden. Go on my profile and look at my posts, he's my #1 guy. We are making a huge mistake if he isn't on our list.

He's been my #1 choice since it was obvious Dooley was gonna get canned.

Most think we want have a new coached named until at least December 11th but before December 18th so we'll see if that is true.
