Ten years and lots of players, coaches, ADs, faculity, and opponents. We as fans have thought we had the right coaches but not the players, then we thought we had players but not the right coaches. Changed almost everything we thought would make things better. Fans have gotten mad, frustrated, cussed, gotten drunk but still go to games, watch on tv and buy the merchandise. Just 12 games after our current coach was hired we stand at basically the same place as we started. What to do????????
I started a thread a few weeks ago asking if Tenn is the next Minnesota or Pitt. Some fans ridiculed me but a few saw my point. I think this program will either live or die with Pruitt. Our last 3 HC searches have surely shown NO established coach, much less a proven big winning coach, wants to come here. Don’t say Leach cause he is barely a .500 career coach (6-8 years ago fans would have out raged settling for a 50% winning coach). I think Pruitt is starting over to build his team. If we don’t ride this out and see where it goes it will only get harder to return by starting again in 3 or 4 years. Fans that like Pruitt say he needs 3 or 4 years to get back to competing for the East. Fans that don’t like him say he needs to show yearly improvement. In reality, it may be years before TN is playing for the East. The SEC is not the conference of the 80s and 90s. There are lots of excellent coaches now. Money is at every school. More athletes for every school. Heck, even Spurrier saw he couldn’t win big any longer. Meyer knew he wouldn’t dominant in the SEC. Fulmer began struggling. In my opinion, if Pruitt isn’t given the time, TN will be stuck just where they have been for a decade and maybe the next Miss State.

And dominated LSU and their big rival FSU and going to a bowl. “Almost lost” LOLOL

FSU? Lol indeed. People talk about Mullen and how he did. Yet UK beat him handidly. When we beat UK its luck and they arent that good. VN is bipolar.

Also, it took a miracle last second play to beat Missouri.

And Mullen destroyed us. Mullen is going to beat us every year until he is gone. Tennessee football is dead unless we make some wholesale changes. Take off the blinders man.

I think your comments are spot-on, save the Mississippi State reference. Fortunately, our fan base is different from many others because of intense loyalty, perseverance and lifelong love for the brand and what it means. Look at the men’s basketball program. Except for the turnaround during the Bruce Pearl era, we were, by most standards, stuck in mediocrity or worse. A revolving door of coaches, not unlike football, contributed to the mess. Remember Wade Houston, Jerry Green, Kevin O’Neill, Buzz Peterson, and Donnie Tyndall? Granted, some turnover is healthy, but too much too often is harmful. We need continuity in our football program and it remains in our best interest to throw our collective support to Coach Pruitt.

Missouri skull drug us.

It’s the overall body of work. 9-3 with a New Years six bowl berth and a top 10 ranking is pretty damn good.
