1. I have to question the timeouts. I didn't like the first two timeouts. I thought they weren't used properly in those situations, and just gave Miss State more motivation to throw.

2. I also have to question why Devrin Young gets carries after fumbles, yet Marlin Lane has two nice runs in the first quarter and I never see him again. I mean....why? Can I please get an explanation Coach Dooley?

3. Offensive Player of the Game: Corrdarrelle Patterson. We will include the KO return TD (the first since 1999 with Leonard Scott, although Bret Smith technically had one in 2004, but that was an onside kick recover). He had an explosive night and made some huge plays.

4. And with that, I actually thought Chaney ran TOO much. You have Hunter and Patterson and they don't combine for more than six catches. That's not a good job getting your playmakers the ball.

5. Defensive Player of the Game: Daniel McCullers. I'll give it to him because he did a good job containing his gaps and helped stopped a good run game....but nobody really deserves it.

6. Rajion Neal's injury, except on the fumble by Devrin Young, really had no impact on this game. Neal and Watson ran the ball just fine. Can't blame Neal's injury for the loss.

7. This defense is beyond awful. The secondary is the worst I've seen at Tennessee. The players look like chickens with their heads cut off. I can't believe the defense is this bad with some pretty decent talent.

8. Where is Mike Rivera? Why does he not get more touches? We needed to open up the safeties, and he would have been perfect.

9. UT's front seven cannot get pressure on anyone and it keeps costing them. I can't tell what is worse. The pass rush or the secondary.

10. I just don't have much positive to say for next week. It's going to be a loss and the coaching staff is in trouble. Tennessee had an opportunity...and blew it...Ugh....

I love Lathers leadership, but he needs to learn how to tackle. We can't win running Devrin Young the entire 4th quarter!

For the second year in a row, I have a Cub Scout camping trip on Alabama weekend. And for the second year in a row, I am not concerned with figuring out how to watch the game.

Where was Lane? Why were we down to our fourth-string tailback?

Giant swollen failure. A dreadful performance all the way around against a well-coached team with significantly less talent. I am officially all the way out. Fire Derek Dooley.

Well it all comes down to $hitty coaching. Anybody who lets Brent Brewer line up on Bunphis on a crucial 3 rd down shouldn't be coaching. Also, on another 3rd down you have Teague running 5 yds behind Bumhis again. Put the f-ing freshman in if we are going to play like this. Teague and Brewer shouldn't be on the field.

I agree on the timeouts, and Marlin Lane, the rest two, but those two stick out. Dooley is Lame Duck. No way they are better than us. Failure to Keep Wilcox last year was a big mistake, and I blame Hart on that one.

The playcalling was atrocious. Even after the terrible first half, after our defense has breakdown after breakdown and Rivera effectively gives the football back to Mississippi State on the kickoff, we were still in position to win the football game. Down 3 points in the fourth quarter (which shows how much more talented we are than MSU), we start running the football and drawing things out when we should be trying to press the ball down the field against a defense that we had on its heels.

It seems like Chaney's tempo is always the reverse of what we need. When its time to be patient and play a four quarter game, he gets anxious and forces the pass. And when opportunity is knocking and its time to take the lead, Chaney gets timid and depends on the run. Its infuriating.

No, no Dooley just wanted to play the 4th string tailback.....NOT. Lane has a concussion and Neal has something going on with his leg, thinking ankle right now.

Of course I am sure they were coached by dooley to hit a 12 yard punt, to fumble the ball and to not field a kickoff.

You have to play the cards you are dealt. Young did very well aside from the fumble. I was shocked at how well he ran the ball actually and then the fumble happened.

I have a wedding in Chicago, and I feel the same way. I already know we're going to lose, it's just a question of how much.

The timeouts were horrible, really, REALLY bad. I KIND OF understand the first one, it was a 3rd down at least iirc. But I don't think you call them that early. It gives the offense time to set up a play..which, knowing our defense..you know how that will go. The one of second down..no words.

Do wins against FCS teams count toward bowl eligibility? I was thinking no, but may have misremembered.

Brewer is good is run support but a huge liability when passing.. He was targeted everytime is the slot. Also, Teague was in covering the slot on 3 and 8 late in the 4th.. gave up too much cushion and then 1st down.. Ball game.. Teague makes me want Art Evans

The coaches have nothing to do with failures in technique and/or simply knowing the damn rules by the players? Seriously?

Any 12 year old that plays football knows a kickoff is live. Get real. Even my wife knows it's a live ball. That's not coaching that's a brain fart on the player and the player alone coaching has nothing to do with that any more than coaching has to do with knowing you get 6 points for a touchdown.

The gameplan is up to the coaches, fundamentals are up to the coaches such as tackling, knowing where to be etc, but a fumble, dropped INT, a bad punt are on the individual players (you do realize that we got the number 1 ranked punter and kicker in the nation out of HS don't you). The kickers just stink. Not much you can do about that.

These are the reason for the lose.Young put it on the ground twice.Secondary is horrible. The big catch on the last drive wad defended by non other than Teague.Neals injury really hurt us.He had 9 carries for 40 yards and a TD.If he stayed in the game I really think the outcome would have been different. He and the Oline were wearing the dline down. The drop Int would have been a game changer.
