Reggie White: A True Tennessee Legend - YouTube

While there have been many threads on him over the years its the off season and there can never be enough praise given to the Greatest Defensive Player to ever play the game of football.

For as much as I love Peyton imo Reggie was the greatest to ever wear the power T

The Video will almost bring you to tears.

RIP Hoss

I loved Reggie White growing up and still do. We could use a few more people like him as role models... and we could use a few more players like him as well.

"The Bible says a Good Name is better to have than Great Riches. So I would rather have a Good Name as being a Godly Man than I would the Hall of Fame or all the money in the world." Reggie White

Fellas, I had a chance to be around Reggie White when I was in school at UT. He was truly a genuine bigger than life individual that loved God above all else. He's going to always be sorely missed and why does God call the goods ones home early? 'Praise the Lord' is all he ever said to me! :hi:

He spoke to FCA when I was in HS. Told a story about a guy that lined up in front of him in college. The guy kept cursing him. Reggie looked at him and said we both need forgiveness. The guy laughed and said for what? Reggie crushed him on the next play and said to him you for the language, me for wanting to do that to you.

I didn't see Reggie White play in College, too young, but saw his last few years with Green Bay and Carolina and thought he was a beast especially at Green Bay. It wasn't till after his death that I realized he was a former Vol. Always thought as good as he was, how humble he seemed.

Can you imagine if he was stiill around how CBJ would embrace him and bring him in to preach to this kids nowadays.

Def need few more like him

I was a freshman during Reggie's senior year. He was bigger than life then and he still is.

I was blessed to be at the 1983 LSU game.LSU returned the 2nd half kick off deep into the North end,3 straight plays Reggie stuffed in the backfield. After the 3rd down he raised his arms and we thought the stadium was coming down.Blessed indeed !!

That was my first season as an ex-patriot fan after moving from Tennessee to Baton Rouge. So I watched that game in a place in BR surrounded by LSU fans. And that is my number one memory of RW ... blasting Dalton Hilliard in the backfield, a split second after he got the hand-off. :eek:hmy: :loco:

The combination of Reggie White making plays, and John Ward calling them is entrenched in my memory forever. Just a part of that great tradition that CBJ talks about. Big Orange football lives forever.

Reggie was good friends with my pastor so I had the privilege to hear him speak on several occasions. He was a great communicator and had a genuine love in his heart for other people. But make no mistake he was a man for sure both in stature and character!!!!

My Mom knew Reggie ever since he was a kid at Howard Elementary and Howard High with Coach Bowles as she was the secretary at the elementary. I remember when I was a kid my mom kept telling me that two kids from Howard High were being recruited by Tennessee and they were really good being Reggie and Charles Morgan. Both signed with Tennessee and we all know the story what happened with Charles Morgan! Reggie was always a good guy and even used to walk my mom to her car being that the Poss Home Projects were located right across the street and back then a rough neighborhood. He is missed and glad to call him my hometown hero and one of Chattanooga's finest!!!!!

I remember being up in Nashville on business having lunch at Sonny's BBQ on I believe Murfreesboro Pike back in the 80s when I read an article in the Tennessean about Reggie White. With a rather lackluster Freshmen year, the article spoke about the then Defensive Coordinator for the Vols and how he played into Reggie's religious convictions. He basically said "Reggie, the guy with the ball is the Devil and it is up to you to stop him".
I couldn't believe I was reading this but boy it sure did work! Am sure each and everyone of you read the same article.

Was my favorite player as a kid and the seasons of 82/83 are my first real memories of going to Vol games. Been hooked ever since.

I saw the 30 for 30 on Jerome Brown. Reggie was a true friend. A rock! I really miss him on and off the field. Only saw him in real life once at TBA in the early 90's. Wow!
