The meltdown that is happening on the Vandy message boards

mostly they are gloating over Franklin losing "his guy". they are pretty certain that Shoop is responsible for most of Franklin's success at Vandy

It will take a day or two for the rusty gears in their heads they call brains turn over enough to realize what this costs them in their quest to not be the worst SEC team.

Rats leaving a sinking ship. Mason will be out of a job after the Tennessee game.

I dunno. David Williams loves him. As long as he's AD and Vandy football players aren't getting arrested, he will be employed as their head football coach. Same thing with Stallings IMO. The fanbase simply isn't big enough and the alumni aren't interested enough in forcing him to make any changes.

agreed. as long as they stay out of trouble the AD is content. happy is too strong of a word.

Who do you hire if you fire Mason? James Franklin's flash of success was short. Vandy is the doormat to the SEC. Let them battle Kentucky for worst in the SEC east.

If Shoop does well organizing the Tennessee defense he would be a prime candidate for the Vandy job in the future.

Mason technically improved from year one to two, they aren't going to fire him. 4-8 is a damn good season at Vandy. Lol

I miss Franklin at Vanderbilt.

It was fun to compete against them when they were somewhat decent.

I can't agree but I do at least understand the sentiment. It was fun to watch them lose when he was there. Now, I am back to actually cheering for them when they play Florida and Georgia. There is no reason not to. They are no threat.

VU is back to pre-Franklin days when they didn't care about athletics. After the Franklin experiment and black eye with the rape scandal, they are perfectly fine with being a "baseball school".

They will keep Mason because he's clean even though they know 5-7 is his likely ceiling, MAYBE eking out a 6-6 bowl season once in a while. They've already shown they are fine with Stallings getting to the NCAAT every couple of years; anywhere else pretty much in the SEC he'd be shown the door for underachieving. And remember when Vandy's women's basketball was a real rival to the Lady Vols? Yeah, that seems like a long time ago.
