The meltdown that is happening on the Vandy message boards

This probably won't be the most popular opinion, but coaching wasn't the problem last night. CDM called a hell of a game defensively, and the OC has a track record of success. I think given the HS talent he had to work with he didn't call an awful game.

So you're saying Franklin left him with highschool talent? I think Franklin left him with less talent than Johnson left Franklin, but I'm not willing to go that far and say Mason has no talent. I think they do in spots. I think it's a combination of 3 things

1.) not nearly enough SEC talent 2.) Mason and staff are awful 3.) They are Vandy

Vanderbilt them huh, so they are willing to admit that they will lose the game. Oh but not only lose the game but do it in the most embarrassing way possible, and after, blame the refs. Oh and also talk about how they don't care that they lost because if they had player X, Y and/or Z they would've destroyed the other team so thats why the scoreboard don't mater because it was a moral victory. After they are made aware that it wouldn't matter if they had all their best players they will comfort each other by boasting about how great WKU really is and how they only lost by X amount and every other SEC team would've lost by more, especially ewetee.

That is what Vanderbilting is right?

Vanderbilt is now a verb...

He did what every SEC coach should against an inferior team.

Blitz consistently and run man coverage. SEC DBs should be better than C USA WRs. Don't let the QB get a chance to sit there and throw.

I don't know why the abandoned the option. McCrary had like 2 carries in it and got 10-15 yards a pop. Vandy OTs were sealing the line backers and the D end crashed every single time.

The defense did great. 14 points to a high scoring team isn't bad. But the offense did nothing. When they could have scored it was int city. It could have been 17-0 Vandy. But oh well. Life goes on lol.

The WKU WRs cost their team a good number of scores as well. Vanderbilt was most definitely the worse team in the field last night and will be one of the worst teams to ever take the field in the SEC.

Mason stated that they gave the game to WKU. I see it the other way around, WKU tried their damndest to give it to vandy.

Other than the QB, What other players for Western Kentucky would be on an SEC two deep? That defense Vandy has played tough for what they are, mostly second/3rd team SEC Players.

When they play the big boys, they will get crushed severely after the first half.

The RB Leon Allen would be in a lot of 2 deeps in the SEC and could likely start on a few of the lower tier SEC teams.

Vandy's defense did "great" in the first half, but WKy was clearly out of sync, almost rattled to start the game and it had little to do with Vandy....dropped a wide open TD pass and a "flea flicker" WR screen that might've scored as well given how it was set up. Just dropped about 4 other balls as well.

WKy took control of both lines of scrimmage in the second half, the offense got on track and in rhythm and Toppers not only moved the ball through the air, but they also just lined up ran the ball very effectively at Pansybilt.

I don't buy that Franklin didn't leave him any talent. His 3 classes were all top 50; even the '14 class that fell apart once he left. That's more than enough talent to compete with the likes of WKU, MTSU, Houston, Temple, UMass etc.

WKU didnt have their starting right tackle, best WR, no.2 RB, or their most talented LB Dejon Brown. Still won the game. Hilarious.

Now that is funny. So how is it that a Mid Major can out recruit any sec team? I mean I know there are some really good coaches who are up and coming who start in the mid majors who can outcoach other coaches. But how do they out recruit a big 5 school? Even Vandy? That is seriously funny!!

Honestly though, I can't figure out why the vandy ad won't hire a triple option coach. That would be their best shot to field decent teams. imo

They are falling into the SOV mentality from last nights defeat.

But can you imagine what's gong to happen if/when they get beat by MTSU?

Looked like McCrary was hurt -- I noticed him limping quite a bit

Haha Chad Morris supposedly wanted the Vandy job when they hired Mason. Morris now has SMU playing Baylor tight and looking pretty decent, especially since he took a team that only won 1 game last year and is picked to finish dead last in the AAC. The Mason hire is going to be a program killer for years to come.
