The meltdown that is happening on the Vandy message boards

If I am him, I am saving as much money as I can, because I know I am getting my walking papers. and it might be a while before my next one. (assuming he wants to stay HC) I don't know if anyone would risk hiring him as a DC again right after he was fired from Vandy

He'll get hired as a DC again somewhere it just probably won't be a big time school like Stanford. He'll have to start low and work his way back up. Depending on his buy-out if it's high enough I would make vandy pay me to sit at the house for a year because lord knows he won't be getting a tv gig

"Uhhhh....I thought that we....you know....I thought that we played well. Uhhh....our guys, man, our guys....you know....they played hard. And uhhh....we just couldn't get it done. And uhhh....that's on me."

His qualifications as a DC are not in question and would be in high demand at top school whenever available. Could've seen him as a better candidate than Steele for LSU...save for recruiting.

How much of Stanford's defense is actually attributed to Mason? Didn't Vic Fangio build the defense before Mason took over?

Sure and he maintained it...advanced even...with 3 star talent. The guy blows as Vandy's HC...let's not get greedy and try to throw the USELESS DC changeup. Muschamp similarly was overmatched at the top spot...no one is stretching that into an Auburn fail hire.

I'm with you I just don't see an sec team taking him on as a DC. When I said lower I didn't mean dropping down to D2 probably to a team in the bottom half of a power conference depending on how the D looks this year since he'll be coaching it.
The difference was Muschamp's defense was always lights out at Florida the problem was the offense struggled to put 10 up a game and Muschamp has a track record of DC success at numerous colleges while Mason has 1 year under his belt as the only DC at Stanford

had several 4 and even 5 star players those last few yrs.

they gave a drunk Mike Leach a gig.

Hahahaha:eek:lol:,,I wonder if they'll wake up and ponder, hey, it's not the day or time that makes our program suck - it's just that we suck.

I doubt he'll have any problems landing at a top school as a DC. In fact, I bet several schools will be knocking down the door to land him as their DC. He will be paid handsomely too. Most likely within the top 5 paid as far as DC's alone goes. I wouldn't mind having him at UT as DC either.

Not familiar with them...they ended up playing that way...you sure they were defense?

4 star players Stanford signed just on Defense while Mason was there from 2010-2013. He coached the secondary in 2010 and moved to DC in 2011. For some reason people think they recruit only 2 and low 3 star players but they have recruited very well the last several years. There were also countless high 3 star signees not on this list. All per 247

2010:
Blake Leuders 4*
Devon Carrington 4*

2011:
James Vaughters 4*
Charlie Hopkins 4*
Wayne Lyons 4* (Just transferred as a grad transfer to Michigan for 2015)
Jordan Richards 4*

2012:
Alex Carter 4*
Aziz Schittu 4*
Luke Kaumatule 4*
Jordan Watkins 4*
Nathaniel Lohn 4*
Noor Davis 4*

2013:
Peter Kalambayi 4*
Kevin Palma 4*
Austin Hooper 4*

The recruiting at Stanford is on another atmosphere compared to the recruiting hes doing at Vanderbilt.

He runs the 3-4 so for better or for worse I don't think we'll be seeing him at UT anytime soon. 2012 is just too fresh.

So he CAN recruit! Even more an endorsement for him as a DC!

Every single OP for a thread on a new commit talks about how that player is underrated, his recruitment will pick up and bigger offers will come later.

Every. Single. One. Never a shred of doubt.

It's joyful to watch.

Fyp? 😊

if thats how you wanna see it go right ahead. Its not translating at all to Vandy. Stanford is a little easier to recruit to atleast for 2-3 of his yrs there bc they were winning. Plus i wasnt saying he couldnt be a DC anyways. I was just telling you he had great talent there.

Wasn't extolling his HC capabilities...I had made the point that he would be in immediate demand as a DC...for a big program... Looking pretty good. :)

Stanford > Vandy just by name recognition alone.

But but Vandy is the Stanford of the south. /blue font

All I know is I work for a Fortune 500 company and my CEO is not a Vandy alum...

But wait, but wait....are you sure? I mean, every CEO who ever took a breath is supposed to have graduated from Vandy, that's what they all say. Guess your CEO must've "settled"....

Brad Edwards said that "Vandy could very well lose to WKU but should be able to win the Austin Peay game." That's about all he could give them.

Lol! :)

I keep seeing their fans using the Tennessee game as evidence that they're going to be better this year.

Do they not realize that one of their touchdowns came on a busted coverage by a player who had business being in the game (Jakob) and that Dobbs and Lane essentially beat them by themselves?

Give us one more healthy WR in that game, a healthy Crowder at center, and a healthy Hurd and the final score is more like 38-17 instead of 24-17.
