The meltdown that is happening on the Vandy message boards

That's a plausible theory. Another scenario that I thought of was that the important people making decisions at VU didn't want WKU fans literally doubling the Vandy fans at their opening home game. That would be a complete embarrassment for Vanderbilt especially if/when they lose. Now that it's on a weeknight I doubt nearly as many WKU fans make that trip. Gives VU a little more of a home field advantage.

It might hurt WKU turnout a little, but it'll be very minimal. It's only 55 miles from BG to Nashville so even a late night is "only" midnight. And the Nashville WKU alumni association is either the largest or 2nd largest so there'll be plenty of locals.

There are approximately eleventy billion WKU grads in Nashville.

It was funny as hell though. All the Vandy fans went silent, and stayed that way all season.

Silence. The age old question, "If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?" applies to vandy football, "If an anchor falls in the ocean and no one is around to see it, does it make a splash?" Nary a ripple in my opinion. **** vandy.

And now the bottom five. This won't take long.

5. Missouri at Vanderbilt, Oct. 24: Notice ...

4. Vanderbilt at Florida, Nov. 7: a theme ...

3. Vanderbilt at Tennessee, Nov. 28: here?

2. Vanderbilt at Ole Miss, Sept. 26: Sorry ...

1. Kentucky at Vanderbilt, Nov. 14: Commodores.

Saw this in the FF in the Top 10 SEC games post and just had to see if they were saying anything about this. Its Hilarious!

This guy thinks a weather delay caused a 30+ point swing:

I'm excited for this game and flying in for it, just as I typically do each year. I may be one of the few who believes this, but I honestly and truly think that if the Temple game had kicked off at the scheduled time (or at least somewhere close to it) we would have won that game. The combination of a young team, new coaching staff, interminable weather delays that resulted in a loss of spectators, really changed the character of the game. If we had decent weather and a typical (for recent years) opening night crowd, the energy in the stadium would made a tremendous impact IMHO.

Did he watch Vandy play any other football games last year? Their utter incompetence was on display in 11/12 games, with the one game where they looked decent coming against their reviled "Viles."

Making excuses for not only a loss to a bad team but getting blown. Kind of says it all about the status of Vandy's program. Garbage.

Those arguments always amaze me; the delay affected Temple just as much Vandy.

Heck I'm definitely going now to root for Western and I didn't even go there.

My folks will have a solid tailgate. My dad always does his menu based on who the opponent is. Cajun for ULL, Cuban for FIU, BBQ/southern for Troy etc. Not sure what kind of food Vanderbilt dictates. Probably aren't worth a pack of Ballparks.

Does the same hold true for our first game against Oregon? Or does it matter that we were holding our own until mid game when the weather intervened and we got dominated afterward?

No it's just as dumb when some of our fans used it. An inferior team holding their own for a half is hardly a strange thing.

Go with Vandy's nautical theme and reputation for being terrible: Captain D's for everyone.

Caviar and champagne would most closely approximate the Vahn-duh-bilt blue-blood mentality.
