the 'defense' in the rape case should be read by every student going to Vandy. see if they are comfortable with that. does VandyMania have anything about the case?
Things aren't exactly peachy in Commode-dore Country.
Over the past few days, T.J. Smith, one of their RB recruits, flipped to Arkansas, and Jackson Perry, one of their DT recruits, flipped to Dartmouth (Dartmouth!!!). Vandy fans for some reason thought they had a shot with Dylan Jackson, but he wound up committing to Stanford. Bradrick Shaw, a 3-star RB considered a lock by Vandy fans, just committed to Wisconsin.
On top of all that, Josh Smith, their highest-rated recruit, is apparently wavering, and at least one analyst has predicted he will flip to Oregon.
In attempting to explain why their "big recruiting weekend" was a total bust, Don Yates, rather than fall back on Occam's razor and just admit "It's because we're Vandy, we suck, and no one wants to play here," formulated a rather bizarre hypothesis: the recruits didn't get to attend any Vandy basketball games, and thus they didn't get to experience the atmosphere that is Vanderbilt athletics!
It's in their coffee shop or whatever. Very minimal discussion; don't known if they just don't want to talk about it or there are really that few fans of vandy FB.
Blue shirt?
They are eligible to both enroll and play during the initial fall semester following their high school graduation or junior college transfer, but are not counted as an incoming scholarship player until the following years recruiting class.
Its a contrast from grayshirts, who are not permitted to enroll or play immediately out of high school.
The biggest distinction for blueshirts however, is that the rule interpretation mandates that the players in question are not recruited.
That is defined by the NCAA as not having any of the following: an official visit to the school, an in-home visit from the schools coaching staff or a letter of intent issued for the student athlete to submit.
If neither of those have occurred, the player is eligible to be a blueshirt beginning the day after fall camp starts. At that point, he may be awarded a scholarship and counted forwarded to the next years recruiting class.
Heres a simple checklist/breakdown of the four scholarship entries:
Scholarships In-home visit? Official visit? Class Enrolls
Early enrollee Yes Yes 2015 Spring 2015
Fall enrollee Yes Yes 2015 Fall 2015
Blueshirt No No 2016 Fall 2015
Grayshirt Yes Yes 2016 Spring 2016
The only way is if Vandy doesn't recruit them.
It's in their coffee shop or whatever. Very minimal discussion; don't known if they just don't want to talk about it or there are really that few fans of vandy FB.
OK. I went on their site and copied and pasted. I think you will get the idea why some of our previous posters made the comments they did. And as for the second topic; I'm sorry, but what an idiotic question!

Discussion on incident moved here - UPDATE
PLEASE folks, while discussions were moved off the Football Board to the Coffee Shop, it was not to encourage more talk of who did what in respect to the alleged victim.
I know that some will disagree but VandyMania was NOT founded to be a forum to spread rumors of what did or did not happen to a young woman by a group of men and what role, if any, she played in it. Yes, you are entitled to your opinion, but not necessarily entitled to post it if you can't do it without graphic detail. The court of justice will hopefully do a honorable job of sorting this all out.
In the meantime, posts that go into dramatic detail will be deleted and if it remains an issue, the topic will not be allowed.

Has the on-going testimony in the rape trial
Changed your perception of Franklin? Vanderbilt athletics? Or the university?

How Can They Charge Vandenburg With Rape?
He never touched the victim and neither did Mackenzie...Beatty and Banks are the ones that should be in the biggest trouble."
That's all, folks!![]()
I'd bet dollars to donuts that Don Yates is deleting posts about the trial with impunity.
The general feeling we get from VU now is one of utter disappointment, obviously, for a few things that have transpired in the last few days. Vanderbilt was a bit surprised that TJ Smith flipped like he did, upon an official visit to Arkansas and after he made it seem like he was shutting things down.
The Dylan Jackson situation was at one time, VU felt, a 65/35, but they knew Stanford was a serious contender. Jackson's family's big on academics and he does have a non-Tennessee background, so it was never a given he'd stay "local". Vanderbilt may try to give him some second thoughts, but he's likely to stick with the Cardinal.
(lots more about recruits flipping/taking a look at other schools that I trimmed)
Many people are wondering just what happened to VU's recruiting momentum and the feeling from people at VU and what they are hearing is that opposing coaches are saying this is a make or break year for Derek Mason and the staff, that another year means a dismissal. The basic belief that most have, of course, is that David Williams is not likely to be the athletic director after this year, and so if VU struggles again in 2015, a new AD might make a change.
There's also the feeling that obviously the rape trial is not helping, nor is the 3-9 record. Most of it just sounds like job security...questions as to will Mason be able to last after next season, but there's also some stigma with VU being put under the microscope by the rape trial, some of the stories being put out, questioning how VU does things, and the general timing of everything. I'd stress though that most VU sources feel that this past season's struggles and Mason's job security is the biggest reason why VU is missing on people.
