The meltdown that is happening on the Vandy message boards

Serious Question.

If Butch were to get fired tomorrow, does Jancek or Bajakian get an SEC coordinator position?

Do they get a Power Conference coordinator position?

I'd say yes on Jancek and no on Jake. For the most part our defense overachieved this year. The book isn't written on Jake yet because of how terrible our OL was, but he hasn't shown enough on the field to get another P5 coordinator spot IMO.

Pretty solid hires in my opinion with an OC from a Power conference that has a history of putting up points and a DC that has SEC experience in recruiting and coaching. McGriff is a high energetic guy that hopefully can recruit the parts he knows. Supposedly Mason called the defensive gameplan against UT (not sure on that) and if so why didn't he step in earlier and do that, but regardless both have some experience at high level jobs and are more qualified then I expected Vandy to get at this stage.

Mason will get another year if he can at least keep Vanderbilt competitive in the SEC games without any more blowouts.

McGriff hasn't been a DC in 20+ yrs. he was a DC at a small school. Mason may have called the defense but UT was missing half their team and still won. I'm sorry but why do you think there won't be any more blowouts? Ludwig is not dealing with any Melvin Gordon type players at Vandy.

No, he's not. I like Mason. Stanford is a well-coached team. Problem is, he had to start from ground zero, with all the decommits that followed Franklin's departure.

Mason is going to have to build that roster back up and once done, they will be a pesky program to deal with. If I am Mason, I am banging the table constantly to get some MAJOR upgrades to Vandy's stadium. That thing is like an out-house compared to Neyland and other stadiums in the conference.

Some of the snobby Vandy donors need to break out the big checkbook to help make it happen. It's hard to compete on the SEC recruiting front with Sun Belt Conference
facilities.

That's all well and good but we all know vandy will never put the amount of cash into the football program that Tennessee does.

My response was to the one that stated Wisconsin OC had no where to go once his coach was fired. I never said McGriff was a DC. didn't even know he was one until you stated it above in your "Google" search.

Injuries are part of the game and every team has them every year, thus 85 scholarships are allotted.

Vanderbilt's whole secondary went down last year in the 2nd half and still won that game. Also Vanderbilt is so young. See how that works. Excuses don't win games, they just drag out the inevitable.

I did not state their would not be any more blowouts, I stated if Mason does not allow Vanderbilt to get blown out then he will be allotted an extra year.

Vanderbilt has and will continue to get some good RB's but they still need a line to run behind. See - Ralph Webb and Jalen Hurd.

Franklin got the administration to start putting some money in the facilities, new weight room, indoor training facility, etc. but the stadium needs a major overhaul and the admin and donors don't seem to want to pony up for it, and who could blame them until that ticket is hard to get. I would personally like to see the nicest 45k stadium in the land and the hardest ticket in town to get, but I do not see that happening in the near future.

I think Vandy should "wait and see" with the new OC for sure. Slobbing on his knob because his offense put up gawdy numbers this year is going to lead to some serious disappointment. Melvin Gordon was their offense and when he was slowed down the offense stalled. So, is the OC awesome or did he benefit from an amazingly talented RB with an experienced OL and a stout defense??

Is the new DC going to continue implementing the 3-4?? Or is he being given the DC title, but really just a glorified position coach and recruiting coordinator? I'm sure he learned from Rob Ryan much the same way Sal learned from Saban...

Oh well. I'm not sure these are the boner inducing hires that Vandy fans seem to think they are. But... To each their own.

If you look at what Bielema has done with Arky's o-line and running game, most of what Wisconsin had in place running the ball and protection was brought in and coached by Bielema. Doesn't mean the OC isn't any good but it's possible he just inherited what Bielema built and couldn't replicate it starting from scratch on his own. Walking into Vandy's situation is nothing like walking into Wisconsin's situation.

We won't know until we see it on the field but to be in the position Mason is getting an OC from Wisconsin is a step in the right direction. Good point on the DC being given the title and really on board to help recruit the area he has worked in the past.

Last yr at this time vandy fans were going crazy about Dorrell. Talking about how he had been a HC and time in the NFL. Bragging about his west coast offense and telling everyone about mason dragging teams to "deep water" lol.

They are celebrating getting an OC from Wisconsin. Bragging about his numbers and how he also coached Derek Carr at Fresno. The thing is they don't have a Derek Carr, Melvin Gordon, James white, or montee ball. They don't have those type of lineman, stadium, Tradition and they play in the sec where they don't have the athletes. The way they are recruiting and by looking at their personnel it really doesn't matter what system they run.

We all have unrealistic and over the top fans. I remember hearing UT fans talk about how Riley Ferguson was the next best thing and that North would explode this year especially with Malone on the other side, and have even heard Dobbs for Heisman and if Butch wins 6 games with this squad he should be coach of the year. 2015 is the year, or 2016, or 2017.

Come on now. Vandy fans were way over the top with predictions this year. Everything from playing in the SEC championship to your two star recruits being game changers. While the vast majority of UT fans thought we would have a seven win season.

Sure we have some unrealistic fans, but nothing like you had going into this season. And reality has set back in that you have returned to the doormat status you've held for nearly the past century.

Jancek yes; Bajakian no and you are comparing apples to oranges because you just hired a guy who had some pretty poor years at Oregon and California, while being on his way out at Wisconsin. His offenses actually got worse at Oregon, Cal, and Utah with good talent under some very good head coaches which is pretty impressive, with the exception of one lone year at Utah. Not to mention the secondary coach of one of the worst secondaries in the NFL.

I like the continuity Mason brought to Vandy. Nothing like firing your coordinators after year one to make up for coaching ineptitude on his part. He's in over his head.

Vandy will always suck and their two year blip on the radar was and is a statistical anomaly.

more like a 2 year genital wart infection on college football, their fans are insufferable but I get it, when you only date a woman once every 3 years you tend to become a stalker very quickly imho

I remember ya'll saying you would have a great shot at winning the East this year. Yeah so STFU. That came from your fans and your dumbass coaches mouth.

In all honesty Vandy did a good job on the OC hire. DC... Not so much. I don't think it will translate to much difference on the field either way, though.

We need to get this guy off this message board, it is only fair sinc that a-hole Don Yates blocks 99.9% of UT fans that try and post on Vandymania.com

Yeah, we're better than that I think. Besides this guy seems fine to me. Heck, I'd like to see Imaxyl back on the board as he was always touting the 'dores here when we were down. Guess he wouldn't have much to say though lol.
