The meltdown that is happening on the Vandy message boards

It's hilarious. Football had been suspended at UT, and our players and coach were away serving in the military. So, Vandy played a hodgepodge team thrown together by UT cadets that year. And they even give a justification for claiming this victory on their website!

Man... I wouldn't be beating my chest about that win if I was Vandy. Our team is in Europe fighting in WWI, so you shut out the equivalent of the District 5 hockey team?? I think I'd let that game recede into the annals of history.

Then again, I'm not a pinko commie bas**** like the Commodores.

You know I'm absolutely appalled at you people... SHAME ON YOU. One of our fellow in state schools is having a down year and you guys are celebrating in their misery! I hope you're happy....

....because I am FREAKING ESTATIC!!!! Screw those d-bags. They deserve it. If Jones has a chance to hang 200 on them and lets off the gas we need to scream for his head!!!! well... in a friendly way of course :)

GBO!!!!

I want to go to the Dud to make fun of Vandy fans but I'm afraid there is significant risk of me paying to go there and not encountering any Vandy fans.

I find some of the language used to describe the blowout to be quite repulsive, considering where our actual team was that day.

No joke. They basically beat a flag football team, and they call it "sweet revenge" and "a bloody, hopeless rout".

Vandy fans live under the delusion that they are relevant in SEC football history. They are nothing but spoiled punks who need a tour of duty in a branch of the service to show them the real world. Everything about that place is 2nd class.

Georgia Tech did the same thing (might have been WW2 instead though) with UGA. Never could really like GA Tech as a result. It's not surprising to see Vandy did that back in the day, and it's even less surprising to see that they act like it was an awesome win now.

Oh the "Can we beat UT" thread is joyful. A mix of moronic optimism, stone cold reality, and the usual idiots who are attempting to make fun of us for being excited about going to a bowl with a win.

It's hilarious, suddenly we're pathetic for just going 6-6 and making a crappy bowl, but they worship Franklin's years? Seriously?

I think that team has quit in the same way that Tennessee quit in 2012. The young guys might lay down in the hopes that they will have a new coach in 2015.

Awesome, they have a thread over there where one guy says they'll get kicked out of the SEC after next year. Reading through it, you see why Yates is a putz. One poster points out you can't even mention the Vandy rape case without the thread being moved, but they can talk about other schools' rape cases and such all day.

They were poo-pooing the Vols possibly going to the Music City Bowl. How quickly they forget... They won 9 games last year - their best season in the modern era -
and they went to the Compass Bowl. They're so delusional that I'm going to relish the beat down they're about to receive.

Yep. Do they honestly think if we went 8-4 we'd be going to the Music City or Compass Bowl? Even some of their realist fans know they had to go to those bowls because they don't have the fans to travel.

Vandymania(bhoyal): We lost at Mizzou by around the same about same margin as they did at home. If the kicker from Mizzou doesn't kick like a 9th grader last night and miss two extra points, the margin would have been the same.

If our team has any fight in them and this coaching staff puts everything they have into this, it should be a somewhat winnable game. uut has a losing record this morning. They are NOT Mississippi State ranked #4 in America fighting for a spot in the first ever D-1 college playoffs. They are just a mediocre team with a losing record and string of losing seasons.

I'm not sure who is going to be QB Saturday with the injury situation, but as long as it's not Rivers, the game should be interesting. That even includes having to use true freshman Freebeck.

Ironically, bhoyal writes like a 9th grader. He's consistently been the biggest moron on the board throughout the season. He runs his mouth to all of his fellow fans and actually thought they would beat Miss St. Now he's saying we're not that great for being 5-6 when we've lost to Florida, Georgia and Mizzou by 1, 3 and 5. Does he not realize that Vandy would be 1-10 if not 0-11 right now if they had our OOC schedule? When you lose to Temple by 30 and beat Charleston Southern by 1, I wouldn't doubt going 0-4 against Oklahoma, Utah St, Arkansas St and Chattanooga.

We may only be 5-6 but all three of their wins were against FCS caliber opponents that they barely beat. They're not just last place worthy in the SEC, they'd be vying for that spot in ANY conference and would be assured that spot in any power 5 conference.

Then there's this guy...

Vandymania: I gotta be honest-I'm not buying TN. Tonight's game got a little exciting, but in reality Mizzou missing two extra points is the only thing that kept it from being over early. UT is the worst conference team we've played all year. So to answer your question, we probably WON"T beat UT, but it certainly wouldn't shock me. Plus, who knows how many arrests they'll have before Saturday?

Apparently Tennessee is worse than a team they just beat 50-16.

Vanderbilt fans always brag about being so much smarter than everyone else and yet their knowledge when it comes to talking about football is some of the most ignorant crap I've ever read. They lack even basic common sense on the topic of football. It's astonishing.

their defense is incredibly slow. It looks like 2012 UT defense trying to play a 3-4. They got big fat DL and their DEs from last yr are now playing out of position. That is exactly why they havent had their names mentioned all yr. They play a soft ass zone and get shredded usually

defensively, just man sutton up on duncan and play to stop the run. they are atrocious offensively. Take a page from UF and MSU game and blitz the hell out of their qb. its the easiest gameplan of the year.

No way the other schools in the East ever let this happen. Pretty much a guaranteed conf AND div win that counts against SEC champ qualification while beating a FCS quality team.

i just think its funny how their coaches/players have done so much talking all season. They look ridiculous and Mason has been digging a hole since january. He hasnt shut up about anything. Hes way too confident to be such a lousy coach. Cant wait to hammer these guys saturday. All that talking is for the birds. Youre scared when you start doing that.

Let's put Vanderbilt's history in the SEC in perspective. The SEC started in 1933 and since that time Vanderbilt has won 129 Conference games as a member of the SEC (129-388-18).

Georgia Tech was an original member of the SEC (1933) and they won 116 Conference games as a member of the SEC. BUT THEY LEFT THE CONFERENCE 51 YEARS AGO
(1963)!

So, in 51 less years, Georgia Tech has only won 13 less Conference games as a member of the SEC.
