The meltdown that is happening on the Vandy message boards

The company motto of the business I work for now (Contemporary Services) is "The Leader in Crowd Management."

I couldn't resist a jab at the company and Vandy at the same time.

Maryville and Alcoa get better attendance than Vandy does this season

It's funny that Vandy claims 4 National Championships(1910,1918,1921 and 1922). GT has 4 as well(1917,1928,1952 and 1990)

they just flipped a kid from Charlotte lol. They are on their site talking ab how they got a stud and their fab15 lol....hilarious. Kid had offers from Charlotte, Dartmouth, Gardner Webb, Wake, GSU, UCF.

Dudley Field at kickoff (as of just a few minutes ago):

Compare this photo. This is two High School teams from White House, a town of around 10K folks.

I bet the WH folks stayed til the end of the game.

I've seen some delusional fan bases in my time (I'm guilty of it myself on occasion) but nothing beats this:

The FL and UT games are in play because their offenses aren't diverse enough to fully expose our weakness. I honestly don't know how we score more than 14 points again this year, but there's always a chance that one of those teams starts turning the ball over or gives up special teams points like FL did vs Missouri.

lulz.

Some Vandy fans on Vandymania last night were talking about what a great job Coach Cutcliffe has done at Duke and what he could do at Vanderbilt. They went into the whole schpiel about Vandy having better facilities and stadium and what not. They can't be delusional enough to think he would leave Duke for Vandy.....................or can they?

That must have been Mark Howard from the Wake up Zone in Nashville. He said he likes Vandy's chances against Florida and that Florida won't be able to move the ball in the air against Vandy. He must have forgot that Florida RAN all over Georgia and didn't need to pass.

Or Florida run amok on UGA.

I'm no Florida fan at all. But this Saturday I will be giving a few cheers of "Go Gata"

I really, really, really, really despise Vandy.

And they are clueless as to why we feel this way. I posted this in the #checkervandy thread on the football forum, but what follows is a comment from an article about #checkervandy on one of their websites. It seems that, after a few years of their fans and coaching staff throwing barbs at us, they are crying 'uncle':

I don’t understand what we did to deserve such ****ing hatred and scorn from UT fans. This isn’t "just a rivalry" to them, they legitimately despise us for some ****ing reason. If it were an actually competitive sports rivalry, I’d understand it better, but for Chrisssake.

You already have the whole ****ing state, no one is disputing that… what, they need to embarrass all 50 Vandy fans too out of some ridiculous "**** Vandy" mentality? I’m sorry that we won 3 games in the last like 50 years guys, how dare us.

EDIT: The usual argument I hear from Vols fans is "we’re arrogant", which is hilarious when you consider how arrogant their fans are.

An answer....

No, it is not a competitive rivalry. We never really even considered it a rivalry. We pitied you a bit. We looked at you like a little sister, and some of us even pulled for you a little.

But your last staff was arrogant and threw barbs at us. Your fanbase picked up on it and ran with it.

Now you are same old vandy--except you've taken out a bit of a mortgage that is now being cashed in.

But be of good cheer. We don't hold grudges. It'll be back to normal in full soon enough. We beat you, forget about you, and then beat you again.

I can't wait. They think they've turned a corner because they beat up on Old Dominion...

Florida's defense will likely have the same game plan for Vandy that they had for us. Press coverage outside with plenty of pressure from the front 7. They're offense will be lucky to advance the ball past midfield.

We'll be going into Vandy either 6-5 or 5-6 needing one more to get bowl eligible. Either way, it'll be a statement game for UT. I think the game will be over by the end of the first quarter, their fans will be filing out by halftime, and Rocky Top will be audible to everyone watching on TV.

Good grief I saw the Butch Jones thread. They made fun of Jones for losing to Dooley, then a Vandy fan pointed out that Franklin lost to Dooley in 2011.

After that it was post after post of how "the refs beat Franklin in 2011"

It was a pick 6 guys, sorry but refs don't cause pick 6's.

They can't be serious.

That place spends 90% of their time complaining, insulting, and obsessing about all things UT, and then one of them has the nerve to ask why we hate them?

I am completely serious when I say in every fanbase I've come across on the internet, none are more classless and delusional than that small band of morons.

I saw that too. They think because the ref might have blown the whistle it should have been dead; even though he clearly shouldn't have blown the play dead.

Plus if they're going to claim that, then the refs won it for them last year.

They still blame the refs for overturning that call, when Gordon's knee was clearly not down.

Not like it would have mattered anyway. We could have advanced the ball 10 yards and kicked a FG and won.

Even shadowing all of the crap that's been strewn by rancorous Vandy fans the last couple of years, I still have no ill will with them. Apathy at its finest I suppose.

That's pretty much what Miami Hurricane home games are like. It was that way in the haydays of the 80s-90s except for when Florida,FSU or Oklahoma played there.

my daughter went to Miami....it was never as weak as Vandy last week
