The meltdown that is happening on the Vandy message boards

I don't know, vandy being vandy I guess...

There's a whole lot of whining and moaning going on over in Vandyland this morning.

Though I'm not happy we struggled, I do get a bit of a kick out of the fact that at one point last night they were on cloud 9 because they were up 10 and thinking they would win and we were down 10 and they were sure we'd lose.

So it made it extra soul crushing the way the night ended.

The board is fun. I would say 50% want him fired now, the Kiffin treatment would be nice. The rest are split on it doesn't matter who the coach is bc they are SOV. The rest think they win 6 games

6 wins got a lot harder for them last night. USC should have been one of the easiest SEC teams for them to beat and it was at home.

Vandy was fortunate (just like App. St) to recover a fumbled punt early in the game. If that hadn't happened, no way they score a td.

LOL, check out the thread on VM called "Stupid UT fans". The guy claims he ran into an obnoxious UT fan in Miami and he said he told the UT fan that Vandy not only beats UT but also wins the East.

I call 100% BS on his story. I don't believe he even ran into an UT fan but even if he did, I'm betting it was about a 5 second exchange. I don't believe for a second some UT fan just went up to a random Vandy fan and started going on and on about how great we were, and I certainly don't believe he told the guy off like that.

Yes, complete BS.

I heard somewhere on the radio that Vandy should bring in someone to run a gimmicky offense like the triple option, because they'll never have the talent to run their current offense. I think that might be a good move for them, they would at least be a little more annoying

A gimmicky offense and a stout defense would get them bowl eligible pretty much every season IMO. They would win all of their pathetic non-conference games and beat at least two of their fellow bottom-feeders in the East.

My Vandy student daughter told me this today:

There's a billboard somewhere on Vandy campus (I got the impression it's over toward the stadium, but not sure) that says something like this: "We're good at what really matters" with pictures of a Vandy baseball player, a student in a chemistry lab setting, and a chess player (I actually forgot the third thing she said, it was something like chess or debate or academics). No football player. Clear insult to their own football team.

Can you imagine? Telling your football players, effectively, 'Hey, you don't matter.' Putting a billboard up so they walk right past it, day after day? My daughter was actually kind of proud about the sign until I pointed out how rude it is to the young men. She didn't even think of it from the team's perspective.

Apparently, nor did the folks who mounted it, or the student leadership/administration who approved it.

Really dumb, for a school that's supposed to be smart.

Chicken/egg dilemma... are they bad at it because they don't care, or do they not care about it because they are bad at it?

It being Vandy, I think them sucking at football was always what came first.

I mean like, Cornelius Vanderbilt sends a telegram: "hey, I'm gonna send $1M, get your school going." And the chancellor of Vandy telegrams back: "thank you much, we will name it after you! BTW, we just found out we really suck at football, even though the game was just invented 3 years ago, and we don't have a team yet. Go chess team!"

:)

I think it's that they don't care; they couldn't even get 30K to consistently show up with Franklin and that was their best 3 year period in history.

Gimmick, they tried that years ago with Watson Brown

This is kinda where I'm at. I want Vandy to win 2-0.

I used to kinda pull for Vandy due to it being inside Tenn and I felt a little pity also. But, when they got cocky I lost all care for them and pull against them most of the time.

The only reason I want Vandy to win is because of the arrogant piece of crap coaching SC had the nerve to take a shot at our fan base publicly when it was obvious our coaches handed him the game. I hope he never wins a game anywhere ever again.

Was that after 100k proceeded to chant FU Florida or FU Muschamp? We kinda set ourselves up for his smartass.

Yeah cause Florida or any school never chants FU anything. We are the only ones who did it to him.

Point out where I said we were the first. While he's doing an interview on live TV you can hear it clear as day and he used it to poke back at us. Getting pissed at Muschamp for taking a cheap shot while we chant obscenities is kinda pot meet kettle.
