The Media Picks: Tennessee @ Florida

Vols fans are either stupid or arrogant. Why is it difficult to accept the fact Florida's had better athletes the last decade.

For the first time in a long time Tennessee has the more explosive and better athletes. Hence we should win.

Vols fans still trying to act like we've list 10 straight because of mental blocks are delusional.

Vol fans are realistic.

He Gets another Year, regardless.

Yes, but it will be significantly less pleasant if we lose to UF. Go 0-9 against our rivals and the honeymoon will not only be over; he'll be sleeping on the couch.

Boo hoo other teams beat Florida so why can't we.

Why hasn't Kentucky beaten Florida either? Maybe we were closer to Kentucky the last 10 years than South Carolina.

Like I said vols fans need to accept that this program had been at a pathetic state the last 10 years. We've been Kentucky status.

Here you go again spewing out senseless garbage to try to sound smart. You're comparing us to a Kentucky team that's beat us once out of 26 years? Then you keep saying that most of our fan base are weak minded and need to accept that we're a pathetic football program right now? News flash for you sweetheart, we've improved slowly but surely under Butch these last 3 years. Yes he's made some on field mistakes and has made some questionable calls but he's made the Vols competitive again in the SEC. Something Dooley never did while he was the coach here! Clearly you know everything so I might as well just stop typing right now.

a. if they are good enough to make a roster, that says something.

b. some players don't pan out because of injuries or lack of work ethic (see jamarcus russell) not a lack of talent.

c. who are the Tennessee players from that team who are making an impact?

The only one I can think of making an impact is Cordarrelle Patterson....as a kickoff returner.

Talent doesn't equate to a good team. Dooley's teams were full of NFL caliber talent, they were poorly coached. Remember the Dream Team the Eagles put together a while ago? They were horrendous with all that talent. Lastly, I never said either team's talent from that year panned out or didn't in the league. I merely implied that there's too many factors that go into determining how good teams were, and how many making it to the NFL isn't a great gauge.

The ones that picked Tennessee to Win are pretty smart.

Our Vols will WIN 27 to 17.

The nasty swamp will be drained and the streak will be officially DEAD!

Yes, we're young, lack experience and still need more talented SEC type depth but we're still going to WIN.

The culture has changed, the type of players we're recruiting has changed, Our young kids have heart, grit, consistent determination and also now they NEVER give up and quit as was proven in a most dramatic way last year at South Carolina. with a totally amazing come back for the Win.

Our young Vols simply BELIEVE that they can Win any game they line up to play.

We're going after the SEC East Championship and we just might get a tiny bit of luck to go with our young talent and determination and Win that.

It all starts Saturday down in that nasty swamp and after we WIN and the streak is DEAD we'll see Gator fans crying and whining like babies and like Tebow did.

This is a new year and team 119 is a new team and they won't quit no matter what and we'll all enjoy seeing that down in the swamp.

Beware Gators, the Big Orange Swarm is coming to put the CHOMP on you and we're going to love every second of it.

Our coaches believe, our players believe and most of Vol Nation also believes.

A new streak starts this year and that's a Vols WIN streak.

#RiseToTheTop...VFL...GBO!!!

The team with the most rushing yards won the game the last 11 years.

The team with the most points has also won the last 11 years, and will win every damn year.

I am the Anti-Analytics Tennessee fan who hopes to balance Butch's over-reliance on analytics.

I agree that Florida has had a significant talent advantage throughout most of the years encompassed by this streak. In comparing the relative success of Tennessee and Kentucky vs. Florida, however, one distinction should be made. Kentucky often doesn't receive Florida's best shot for the same reason that they often don't receive ours, i.e. the Wildcats historically don't command respect as a football program. On the other hand, Florida at least respects Tennessee enough that they come out motivated to play well against us.

The media knows talent wins games. For the first time in a decade, Tennessee is the more talented team. Hence we should win.

The 10 game losing streak isn't voodoo or black magic. Florida's just had better players and hence better teams.

Nothing more.

What scares me is we all know that coaches lose games. Butch and crew has to pull some of these big games out.

This is the major fallacy of VN. It's convenient but not accurate in terms of game day results. Coaches get the teams to game day. At that point it's up to players to execute. We didn't lose the OU game because of coaching. We lost it because of execution issues late in the game and major mistakes that stalled drives. The angst surrounding this game would go way down if some would recignize this fact. We will be well prepared for this game just like we were for OU. I think our players will respond and UF is not as good as OU.

Just my 2 cents.

Its all a mentality, will this be the week we finally slay the white whale? Who knows but those that discount the mental block UT has against Florida are fooling themselves.

There's def a few years in the streak where we had the better team or at least a team of comparable talent. Last year included...not that we had a great team last year, but I do believe that our team was as good or better than the team fla fielded last year.

Actually a review of FL and TN talent as defined by recruiting stars - found the two teams almost identical. (TN younger) So really this is a match up of two teams with almost identical talent. So it will be decided more by coaching and schemes with ,of course, FL getting the home field advantage.

I would love to just embarrass the gators this weekend. We probably win 3-2 with a walk off in the 9th

You may want to rethink that argument. It sounds like you agree with him.

What are the odds that the Gators load the box and stop the running game? Dobbs will have to beat them with his arm. Our WRs have not shown that they can get open. If Dobbs can hit a few big plays of 20 yards early then the Gators will have to respect the passing game and running the ball will be a lot easier. It would be great to watch Butch do what Spurrier did to us in the 90s to the Gators.
