Obviously they have not had much luck in picking the SEC champion. They picked Auburn last year (2006) and Tennessee the year before (2005). We all know how that turned out.

Anyone remember back any further? I read that Auburn barely received any votes when they won it in 2004.

LSU might as well give it up. Not only did the media give them the kiss of death by picking them to win it this season but Les Miles was talking about National Championship match-ups with the PAC-10.

I read in some paper that the last correct media pick was Florida in one of the Spurrier years. I'll see if I can find it exacyly...

I agree with this somewhat. But even a blind squirrel (the media) finds a nut once in awhile. Here's to hoping the trend continues!

People I know who bought downtown condos at pre-construction prices in orer to flip for a quick buck are now selling at a loss. I'm even noticing houses sit for months in Green Hills where a year ago they would not have been on the market for a week. Could all be anecdotal but it definitely seems to be cooling off.

The market is just adjusting itself back to normal values on these homes, see the problem is while the market was smoking values shot up to unrealistic prices. And people were willing to pay. Now that everything has went back to normal, values are coming back to Earth. So the areas that did not over-inflate to begin with are trucking as usual. Now I will agree that some areas have slowed but for the most part Middle Tennessee is holding strong. And not to boast but I am having my best year ever. I have been in it for about 6 years. And the media over hypes it, and the public eats it up.

Yeah, I'm in Green Hills area and while prices are not going down (actually still rising which I guess is the important thing from an agent/broker perspective) it is taking considerably longer for a house to sell from what I observe driving up and down the roads. From your probably more macro perspective are you observing that houses are sitting on the market longer? or not really?

Yeah and the thing is they want to say that we are so bad compared to last year, but what they don't tell you is last year was the 2nd or 3rd best ever. So home sales are leveling out but they are still good. I hope it weeds out a few of the part timers out of the industry. The past few years it has been easy to be a realtor, when you have to hustle thats when it is fun to be in the business. I love it.

And Volbilly, homes are sitting longer if people(bad agents) are still blowing smoke at their clients to get the listing in the first place. See I will go on an appointment to get a listing and use comps and stats to price a home, others go and tell clients what they want tohear. My listings average 55-80 day on market. Thats solid in our area. I usually keep about 15-25 listed.

At the end of the show the other night, a fan commented via email that Mark May has a "man crush" on USC. How true!
