What are the mathematical odds that the last three coaches we hired AND all the players we recruited during that time are this bad? I truly believe there has to be more to this awful run of football of just “bad coaching”. Of course I don’t have the answer but my mind says the math just doesn’t add up. There’s no way we could have hired back to back to back three of the worst coaches in college football. There’s no way we could have 10 years of recruiting almost zero talent or ability. There’s just no way....no one is that unlucky. As I said I don’t have the answer.....but it’s almost like we are cursed or something. It just has to be more than the coach and the player.

I think it’s the higher ups that have contributed to our quagmire. After Kiffin bolted, we made a panic hire in Dooley. Butch seemed fine on paper but in hindsight he was riding BK’s coattails. Then the higher ups did the most tone deaf hire of all time in Schiano. Pruitt was a great coordinator, but so far it’s not translating into being a great HC.

I don’t think anyone has the answer. My 16 yr old son asked me the same question.

We’ve had more talent than Vandy, KY, MO, South Carolina, etc. However, the talent is not equating to Ws.

Coaching change- who? For those saying we should bring in Stoops.... he recently said he preferred NFL vs College since college has turned into a 365 day job with recruiting. Urban? IMO, he will Not want any of this. Most quality (proven) coaches realize there is a bigger problem on the Hill. Again, I don’t know the answer or why we have stunk for over a decade.

Stability means a lot to football programs. Stability in all the supporting departments means a lot to football programs. Stability in the support from the university means a lot to football programs. Tennessee struggles with all of that now, and the more it happens, the worse it can (and has) gotten.

Look at UGA. They trade coaches when the previous one averaged 10 wins a year, but was slipping a little, and brought in an assistant that had been at one place with one coach for a while and understood what a winning program looked like. THEN, the school has spent millions (close to $200M according to an espn article) for facilities, recruiting, etc. It has to be an attitude change from top to bottom.
