On Monday came the announcement from the PGA Tour that its major championships would be rescheduled to this fall due to the ongoing COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) pandemic. That included The Masters, now set to be played November 9-15. That change brought an interesting proposal from ESPN commentator and former basketball coach Dan Dakich. Dakich floated the idea of ESPN’s College Gameday coming to Augusta to College GameDay host Kirk Herbstreit and he appears to be all in. “Love this!!” Herbstreit responded, tagging College GameDay producer Lee Fitting as a potential programming nudge.
That could make for an interesting atmosphere, as Georgia is scheduled to host SEC rival Tennessee that weekend if the 2020 college football season goes unaltered. With CBS having television rights to both the Masters and the SEC on CBS game of the week, that could result in the Dawgs and Volunteers playing in Athens at night as the CBS broadcast. It is a truly unique scenario that might never happen again…

Personally, I love the idea of upsetting UGA on primetime on CBS during the Masters. Bring back Verne Lundquist and it would be just about perfect.

Since I will not be able to go the the Georgia game this year, I think that is a great idea, depending on who is playing the afternoon game on CDS. I guess that game would be played on ESPN. That way, we could tape the masters and still watch the afternoon game live.

The fact that Augusta National has publicly announced the move to November suggests that CBS doesn't believe that college football will be played this year.

That aside, there really isn't a public area at the club where Gameday's set could be located.

It’s pretty cool that Dan Dakich was capable of a good idea . I just hope Herbstreit would be available for Gameday because it is being floated by ESPN that they might try and move Herbstreit and Fowler to Monday Night Football. This better not happen.

Gameday , Fowler, and the Buckeye can go to the Golf Channel for all I care. I quit watching years ago. I am not sure the game of football should be so PC and ESPN is too liberal for my modest tastes. CBS also does not wear mouse ears.

There are several places outside the gates that could work.

It’s completely impractical to set something like that up on the grounds during the 3rd round of a golf tournament. There are hospitality venues outside a couple of gates and on Washington Rd that are filled with folks who are there for the party.

But at that point it could be basically anywhere else. It's not going to feel like the stage is at the Masters if it's outside the gates.

I can almost guarantee you that Augusta National would not allow ESPN Gameday on the grounds and it would be difficult to find an area big enough that isn’t being used for parking outside the gates. I personally don’t care if Gameday ever airs again BUT if it’s from the grounds of AN I would probably watch every minute.

Well I’m pretty sure the mouse network will be your only option to watch the VOLS soon, so I’d prefer to have their A team call the game and keep good advocates for College Football like Herbstreit, in college football. Can’t say I’m too excited for the idea of getting more games with Andre Ware or Ryan Leaf on the call.

Personally I don't think the "Masters" will worry one little bit over what other event will be going on while the tourney is in play.
The have shown before they march to their on drummer. Only one time have I known them to "knuckle" under to social trends and that was the case for women members. It took a long time for this change to happen.

That’ll change in November when the sun is down by 6:00. The leaders probably need to go by Noon just to leave a little cushion for weather delays or if they need to have a playoff.

Does anyone know what the course looks like in November? Obviously we will not be seeing the trademark azaleas but the colors probably change that late down there so it could be pretty.

True all. I was just pointing out that CBS is a competitor, I would be shocked if another network is allowed to be at Augusta National.

So CBS moves it's 330 time slot to 8PM, not that big of a deal
