My grandfather loved this university and everything about it. Unfortunately he passed early Wednesday morning. I’m so thankful that he got to see the first three games of this season. He wore orange every single day of his life. He will be buried in orange and all of the Paul bearers will be wearing orange. See, I made this post because many outsiders looking in think this university is just a school, or a football team, baseball team etc. but to many of us, it’s so much more than that. So much more. Rest in peace to the man that single-handedly painted my soul Tennessee orange.

Sorry for your loss. My dad died age 54 when I was 31. I see some live longer some don't. It hurts either way. I always wish he could have hung around longer and seen the 98 championships just wasn't in the cards. Grateful for the time we did have together.

I am so sorry to hear about your Grandfather's passing. I agree being a VFL is much more than most people can understand.

Bless you, OP. You’re right; these can be more than just games, but a connection to family and home. It’s uplifting to read how much your grandfather inspired you.
