Exactly. I'm from Knoxville TN, went to Virginia Tech for my freshman year in college, and then transfered back to UT after one year because it was so bad. I've never seen so many dbags in one place. Almost everyone there is from NOVA, and if you don't know what the hell that is, they'll be sure and tell you. And then tell you again. And again. And then tell you how awesome DC is with their sweet flatbill hat on sideways. Virginia Tech is a waste of a school that Tennessee will destroy in Atlanta.

Not sure where you are getting most of this post either. The only thing I really agree with is we are full of people from NOVA, but no one I talked to like it. Actually everyone I know hates that place(for similar reasons than I hate Atlanta) and will do anything necessary to not go back. Lets think about this logically now. Why would people who love suburban life so much go to a school where the students outnumber the locals and the closes major city was 4 hours away? Cville is a larger town if you want that, and schools like Richmond, VCU, and ODU, have urban campuses, so why wouldn't any NOVA lover in their right mind go to VT?

I hardly ever see the flatbill hat sideways either. I always associated that with Miami fans.

I got that, but I have no idea where you found any NOVA lovers, and I have no idea why any NOVA lover in their right mind would ever go to school there.

I dunno it just seems like thats where everyone at VT is from. and dont lie about the flatbill, its everywhere there

You are correct. Almost everyone at VT is from there and they all hate it and hope to God they never have to go back. I really don't see the flatbills much at all. Maybe partially caused by the abundance of beanies due to some really cold winters. Like I said, I always associated them with Miami.

sorry you have that experience. I have a similar view of most college students, but that is just because of my displeasure of the party scene. Nice thing with my setup is because of the first couple of people I met I got connected with intervarsity which has some of the most amazing people I have ever met. Starting playing frisbee with another random group that also turned out to be a campus ministry. Decent group there, but not sure I would want the close relationships there.

When I first got to VT, there was only one guy there from my high school and he was in a frat. He took me to a couple of parties and I was quite frankly unimpressed. Met a few people, but hardly any. Ditched that a long time ago.

We respect the SEC and we know the ACC is lucky if considered the third best conference.

Any fan who thinks the ACC is the best is delusional at best. Those are the fans that came along when Vick (1) came along.

I'm not him, but my answer depends if we are talking about this year or are we talking about who has the best conference over several years.

Since 2004 I'd say

SEC
Big 12
Big 10, Pac 10 and ACC in no particular order
Big East
MWC
Who cares

This year I would say
SEC
Pac 10
Big 10 ACC about the same
Big 12
Big East

We get that reaction a lot. The main thing I like about it is threads go away before they get too off topic. Even if they get too off topic they are gone in a few hours anyway.

first of all that is the most confusing forum to navigate. second, I'll consider that an honor? Third, I'm speaking from my personal experiences as a student at Virginia Tech, not just some fan tryin to put down the other team. I went to school there with my eyes open, but those kind of people were just not for me. Obviously there were exceptions but overall I just couldn't stand the folks there. Now I'm speaking only of the students and kids there, not fans in general, so don't get me wrong, but yeah the douchebags are a vast majority on VT's campus.

Quite right about the flat bills. As I stated earlier, everyone at Va Tech that isn't a straight up redneck is some suburban white kid from Nova that thinks they are Eminem. What the were you thinking going out of state to Va Tech in the first place? Could you not tell that everyone there is a tool during the campus visit? Va Tech was one of the first colleges I actually toured when I was a senior in high school, since I've got some relatives in the area. I was terrified of going to college after that, as the idea of spending four years in the purgatory known as Va Tech was unbearable. Thank god I found Tennessee.

If the Tech message board is indicative of all things Hokey then this should be a cakewalk for the Vols! Tennessee should win by three touchdowns! However, it will take the people keeping up with the game on techsideline.com a month to figure out who won.

I saw you whining on that Va Tech board about us not being kind to you. I'm sorry if we hurt your feelings, but I don't see what you're talking about. Don't be so sensitive. Nothing personal has ever been said about you, and I think people have been very cordial on a personal level. We've all just stated facts about our experiences with Va Tech fans, but said nothing about you personally. And it appears that every person on this board that is familiar with Va Tech has a negative perception of their fan base. Do you think this was just made up? What on earth would we have to gain by making up stuff about your fans. We've not done this about anyone else. Maybe you all do have some really bad fans/students. No big deal. Don't take it so personally.

Glad you could come share your feelings with us too. You were actually seeming to be a classy, educated Va Tech fan too. I guess the classy Va Tech fans are also the emotional ones.

Again, we were talking about your fans in general, it was not directed at you.

Your fans were at least bad enough that your own athletic department had to start a PR campaign about teaching Va Tech fans the concept of sportsmanship.

I've not seen any other programs have to do that. Most people learn that stuff in third grade. Must be a graduate level program at Va Tech though.

Yes, it is pointless. What did you think you were going to do? Did you think you were presenting overwhelming evidence that would trump the near unanimous experience others have had with VT trash and we'd all change our minds and worship the classy VT fanbase? And now your feelings are hurt because you just can't possibly believe it could be true of your beloved turkeys? "Nobody else says these mean things..." Waaa.... waaaa.... waaa. You just refuse to hear these things. For the record, I know several UVA and VT folks who are all friends. They ALL agree that VT fans are trashy. Another thing I find hilarious: I went to a VT game a few years ago and sat next to a VT fan and he kept going on and on about the fans and kept asking me, "So, what do you think? Our fans are awesome, huh?" Lame.
