Living in SWVA I can honestly say I hate Tech. I almost hate them as much as Bama and UF. That is how much I hate Tech.

And honestly it shouldn't be that way. I would pull for Tech if it weren't for these Bumpkins I live around. I swear all you hear is them bashing UT everytime you turn around. I hear all the time. Oh' I have always loved Tech. I have pulled for Tech all my life. Bla, Bla, Bla, Bla, freaking Bla.....

The truth is Tech's program didn't start till Vick arrived. Beamer has done a good job but Vick made the guy. I mean get real. They have no history. What 6 or 7 All American's in there entire history. No National Championships. Like 15 wins against top 10 teams in their entire history.

And these people. I swear they win a few games and every chicken farmer in a 500 square mile radius of Blacksburg has a new Mick Vick jersey and the first thing out of there mouth is how much UT sucks.

I mean really, Like the Rock says, Know your role and shut your mouth!!!!!

Tech is a joke, Their fanbase is a joke, and I for one can not wait for this game!!!!

I really hope at some point the ACC turns into a respectable conference to put Va Tech back in its place. Their one claim to fame was running the table in 1999 with a strength of schedule ranked somewhere in the 50s, only to get blown out by FSU in their bowl game. Once the ACC's top football programs get their act together (Clemson, FSU, Miami), Va Tech will go back to being an irrelevant team for some rednecks in SWVA. Unfortunately I have been waiting for the ACC to get over its "down year" for something like 5 years now. How many down years can a conference have?

Outside of their undefeated regular season, all Tech fans say to try to justify their belief that their program is on par with Alabama/Florida/Michigan/Texas/Tennessee/Ohio State/etc. is an upset over Texas and a bad Alabama team in the 90's. If they somehow are able to beat us this year, rednecks in Virginia will brag about it for generations.

We were leading the 2000 Sugar Bowl in the 4th quarter. Looking strictly at OOC records which, in my opinion, is the only way to judge a conference, the ACC was very good last year. The ACC was also good in 2004 and 2005. 2006 and 2007. 2009 would take a long time to analyze, because it is so bipolar.

techsideline.com There isn't too much preview talk. There is still a lot of speculation of what could go wrong to send us elsewhere, and a lot of talk about the defense next year. VT fans are kinda burnt out on the year. It looked like just make it past GT and it was smooth sailing. Too bad we lost to them and then there weren't any big games left to look forward too. A lot of hokies are looking to next year.

If 04/05/06/07 and maybe 2009 were "good" years for the ACC, I sure would hate to see them in a bad year. There is a reason the ACC has won 2 BCS bowl games in 11 years, and the SEC often wins 2 a year. There is a reason the ACC championship game is always half empty, and has teams like Va Tech, Boston College, and Wake Forest frequent them. It is because they simply are not good, and wishing this were not the case doesn't make it so. The top teams in the ACC just do not have the talent to compete on a national level. I know you said you don't believe in recruiting rankings, but let's look at this from a common sense standpoint. How many kids that can honestly play at Florida/Tennessee/Alabama/LSU/Georgia/Texas/Oklahoma/USC/Ohio State/etc. are going to say, "You know what, I think I'd like to go play on Thursday nights against bad teams and live in a desolate cow pasture on a mountain for four years, and not compete for national championships." The desolate cow pasture on a mountain might be able to out-recruit a lot of ACC teams, like Maryland, Duke, BC and maybe even Ga Tech, but its not going to out recruit any of the traditional football schools. Beamer gets a lot out of the talent that he does have, but the fact is Va Tech is not and never will be able to truly compete on a national level for a number of reasons. That said, they still have a hell of a chance at ACC championships as long as Clemson/Miami/FSU continue to screw it up. Oh yeah, I forgot... Miami is "back" this year according to Tech fans. Hope they enjoy their trip to Nashville.


...and as for leading for a little bit against FSU a decade ago... they still beat Va Tech by 20 points. I guess if that's all Va Tech has to brag about, go for it... but that would be like us bragging about almost getting a 7th national championship in 2001 if we didn't blow the SEC championship against LSU. It doesn't count.

oops should have been 2006/2007 were really bad years. Not sure how I messed that one up. 2005 Miami and VT were very good as the top teams. FSU won a fluke game in the championship game so the 4th best in the conference got to go to the BCS game and still nearly lost. Miami had a very good year, but somehow did horrible against LSU and never has been the same since. They certainly had the talent to play with LSU. Just look at the draft the next year.

the acc is a joke. virginia tech's schedule is a joke, and hokie fans are the most delusional people on the planet. their unbelievable stupidity when is comes to college football makes florida fans look brilliant. the only reason that they're slightly relevant is because vt has become the only real d1 school in virginia, where there is a lot of high school talent. tech would hardly ever finish over .500 if they played in the sec.

Yup, and those who don't know about these VT idiots - if you go the the chicken bowl and have the pleasure of meeting any of them, you'll be back on this forum swearing you've met some of the people that certain scenes from Deliverance were based upon.
