Is it possible to snag a coach from Big 12 or even ACC? Or any of the other big time conferences?
Scott Drew - Baylor
Mark Turgeon? - Maryland

It's not too terribly common for this to ever happen.

Most coaches usually move from a smaller conference to a major conference.

Michigan pulled it off with Beilein, Kentucky pulled it off with Tubby and BCG, UCLA pulled it off with Howland, North Carolina with Roy Williams, Texas did with Rick Barnes. I'm sure there's more. But there are far and away more instances where the coach goes from a smaller conference to a larger one.

Seems like Cal pulled it off.

Yep, and it's very very rare for it to happen. Zo is apparently going to be a guy who gets out ahead of the posse at his stops.

He takes over a very solid roster out in Cal. He'll have a few 4 stars, and a top flight 5 star McDonalds AA to work with. Plus 2 of the top 3 scorers return and Cal has a 7 footer on the roster waiting too. So he might be able to parlay that into a run at another job in a few years.

He'll take that 1000 APR out to a school that actually cares about graduating players. You didn't want him, why the sour grapes?

Unless Cal has another Stokes on the roster, I don't see him ever making the sweet sixteen again. Maybe, he hires some better assistants that are more offensive minded and gets there, but if you can barely make the NCAA in a weak SEC, how so you do it on a regular basis in a much more competitive Pac12? But, good luck to him, and to the Cal fans, I say have fun watching his offense the next few years!

An APR brag? Wow..

And we care plenty about graduating players. Heck, look at how well Pearl's guys did at it.

Kenny Hall, Skylar McBee, Dwight Miller, Rob Murphy, Tyler Summitt, Cameron Tatum and Renaldo Woolridge are the reason our APR is so high, all Pearl guys except Dwight.

Bruce clearly recruited good scholars.

I must admit though, I generally give credit to the player who graduated for graduating rather than the head coach. I don't really think Bruce or Zo were in the classroom coaching them through their exams.

We'll see. He's got Sean Rooks' kid, Kameron, who is 7'0 and 280 on the roster next season, and Bird, who was a top 20 McDonalds AA shooting guard. Both will be sophomores. He returns 2 of the top 3 scorers on top of those two and they've got a 4* top 100 guy signed if Martin holds on to him.

Cal's been pretty good under Montgomery. Not great but winning 20+ a few years in a row. Not a major rebuild or anything like that.

Seven players in six years and how many contributed more on the court than they did in the classroom?

Is Connecti****s coach really happy where he is?

wow......

Kevin Ollie is a Uconn alum and he was hand picked by Jim Calhoun to take over once he stepped down. Ollie is a good coach that inherited a good team from Calhoun. If he leaves Uconn it will be for the NBA not for UT.
