The Locker Room

the comments were spot on for the most part I thought

So you agree that there isn't a coaching problem and all the problems with this team lie soley with Crompton? Because that is what was stated by Mark, Reggie concurred and that tone was reinforced throughout the show until I turned it off. There isn't a coaching problem?.....pleeease.

He threw Saturday. Taylor dropped a little throwback screen that was a bit high.

I don't know if it was even high enough to mention. That should be a no-brainer catch for any WR, let alone a senior who was at the top of the SEC last year.

Competition i bet. He played great against bad competition. You can't totally blame Fulmer for getting him. Spurrier told him if he came to SCe, he would make him the face of the program

Exactly. He couldn't win a big game in high school and it looks like he can't win anything, big or small, at this level. He should be a second string JUCO quarterback, not a starter at one of the (once upon a time) elite BCS teams.

It was not a perfect pass, but it was a drop. The play also had a pretty good chance of working on a pretty important 3rd down, IIRC.

How was Crompton ranked so high coming out of high school?

Because he was a big, strong kid with a good arm who could run.

He has not yet lived up to billing, but he does have the physical tools. Then again, who on offense besides Gerald Jones has lived up to billing?

Yes, Ainge came back. What happened was we had a lead were trying to burn clock and make SC use up their timeouts. Crompton went to the line then stood up and started signalling what must have been a pass play. The entire Tennessee bench and most of the fans started frantically signalling timeout and they put Ainge back in.

At the time I thought it was just a Freshman trying to make a play, but now I wonder if it wasn't just a guy not realizing the game situation.

I was about 8 rows up behind the UT bench for that game and the thing that stands out to me about that situation was Crompton coming over to the sideline and throwing his helmet on the ground and getting visibly upset. He looked like he had no idea what he did wrong.
