The Vols have never won a game where they trailed at halftime since Dooley has been coach. After last night, they're 0-21 in second half comebacks in the Dooley era. I'm pretty sure that is correct. If I'm wrong, I apologize.

Still does not compute.

youre right that he hasnt had a 2nd half comeback.
however, he hasnt had to try that 21 times, so that is not correct

How can they be 0-21 in second half comebacks in the Dooley era when his actual record right now with UT is 9-12?

Don't follow.

I'm not trying to provoke. If the Vols are losing at halftime, they have gone on to lose the game every single time since Dooley has been the head coach. So out of 21 games played, Dooley has rallied back to win 0 times, when the team is behind at halftime.

in order to say he is 0-21, he has to have had 21 opportunities. which he has not

Looks like the ones who left had a pretty good idea of what, or wasn't, going to happen.

I don't blame people for leaving anymore. Hell, the fans are the only ones I don't hear excuses out of.

So when they're ahead at halftime and go on to win, that still counts as an 0-1 in second half comebacks. Uh, okay.

Maybe it's 0-20 with UT and LA Tech?

Took about 30 seconds on a gambling site to find a game that he won after trailing at halftime as coach at LA Tech. Nov 1, 2008. Trailed Fresno 21-14 at halftime as a 4.5 point dog; won 38-35 after two fourth-quarter TDs.

Speaking of the gambling site, I still find it fairly amazing that Dooley has never, in 4.5 years as head coach, lost a game that he was favored to win.

How the hell did he manage to get six points erased from the opponents total after halftime? He literally erased part of their lead. Now that is impressive.

I'll put it in boardspeak: Dooley absolutely sucks at coming from behind. He is, most likely, the worst coach in the whole damn country in turning a losing first half into a winning second half. If the VOLS are behind at halftime, they're lucky to score in the entire second half and lately, they can't get a first down, either. The Dale Carnegie of halftime talks, he is not.

If the VOLS are behind at halftime, make a sucker bet and score some cash or get in your car and go home, because odds are, they aren't going to turn it around. They haven't yet, under Coach Derek Dooley.

give me something to cheer about and i'll stay and cheer

Give u something to cheer about? How about the fact we're the VOLS!!! True fans don't said s**t like that! How about a true freshman (A.J. Johnson ), leading all freshman in the SEC in tackles! How about our, I believe many on here said it was God forsaken, defense holding USCjr to 14! There are areas that need improvement, but if u can't cheer for "ur team", win or lose, u need to turn in ur fan card! General Neyland is gonna show up on ur doorstep tonight, (seeing it's Halloween ), and B***h smack u! I'm sure he's digging out as we speak! So u better look over ur shoulders tonight!

drives me crazy to see people leave. I was at the game and stayed the whole time. I dont ever leave before the game is over whether it's a blow out or not.

When Worley threw the 2nd pick, everyone took off, the USC fans sitting in front of me were making comments wondering where everyone was going

I can't really blame them either. In the second half the defense had forced 2 turnovers that resulted in drives starting from the USC 3 and 25 yard line. Both were over within 2 plays and resulted in 0 points. Seeing that, it was pretty clear that 11 points was an insurmountable lead.

That is pretty remarkable. Sadly, those games are becoming fewer and further between. He'll be favored against MTSU this weekend. Other than that, I don't know that we'll be the favorite for the rest of the season. We'll almost certainly be at least a TD dog to Arky and Vandy will likely also be favored. I know UK is awful, but with the game in Lexington, I can't say with certainty that we would be the favorite there either.

Watching the Locker Room right now with Erik Ainge on it and he made a pretty good point. When you're down by two scores with 13 minutes left in the game and half the stadium is full, how do you expect to succeed. You've got a team filled with freshman and sophomores and they look up to see that the fans have given up on them how do you expect them to perform?

:lolabove: This team hasn't done anything in a second half of a game all year with Neyland packed...maybe the fans leaving thought our players would think it was practice with no fans in the stadium and actually become competitive for the 3rd and 4th quarter for once....taking all that pressure off of them :eek:lol:

if UT isn't favored against UK then people need to load up

I was there for the game and i can tell you that the crowd was there for pretty much the whole game. this thread is a fail. i dont go to every game, but i always stick it out to the end if im there. against south carolina, the whole crowd was there until about 4 minutes to go in the game, when south carolina had control, we had no timeouts, and they were just running it down our throats. i am always optimistic and i was very happy to see that almost everybody stuck this one out to the end.

i was next to the student section, and i did see several students leaving! that was disappointing

I was there too and Uh idk what you saw but after that last TD by SC.. People started pouring out of there... Makes me mad..

I like to stay until the end. Period. I really do feel for our senior players. They've been through the wringer for their four years. If I could speak to them, I'd thank them for what they have done and tell 'em they helped lay some of the foundation for much better days to come. Hope we make 6 wins and like Ainge said, even if they go back to Nashville for the Music City Bowl, at least they can have a little fun before their days as a Vol are over.

You weren't paying attention then. There was a mass exodus very early in the 4th quarter. I know it was cold and we looked anemic, but it was inexplicable how early some people were leaving.

Put a better product on the field and people will stay (and pay) to watch.
