IF they win tomorrow, hard to imagine it would be optimum to play in Nashville twice. OTOH, who in their right mind wants to go to Memphis? Belk seems like a stretch.

Worry that Shurmur is going to have a big day.

The defense was pathetic last week.

If they do win, none of those matchups are good.

TX Tech and GA Tech run funky offenses that are tough to defend.

NC ST has a couple of future NFL players in Finley and Harmon.

VA would be the most attractive opponent IMO.

I like our chances with this staff and a month to prepare. Jmo.
I thought about the month to prepare before I posted that and I agree.

But I ain't gonna lie, I don't have the faith I wish I did.

That said, I want the opportunity and I will be very excited to watch it.

Me too. I hate it when we aren’t in a bowl. I have nothing to look forward to relative to football for months. But at least this year the Bears may make the playoffs.

I liked that line of reasoning but then I thought back to them having an off season to get ready for WVU.

Lasted for a half then fell apart which seemed to be somewhat of a recurring theme this year.

Yea, but don't you think WV is a better team than whoever we're likely matched with?

In fairness, I don't think Pruitt really knew what he had at that point. You only learn so much about your team from scrimmaging each other over and over.

I'd say Pruitt knew what he had from what he'd witnessed in the past.

With that said, I'd like our chances with a month to prepare for a 6-6 or 7-5 team.

No where for this program to go but up
This season, we won two SEC games. We beat two top 25 teams.
Now, a bowl game. Any bowl game would be good for program

Maybe, but for some reason I got the impression coming out of fall camp that Pruitt thought we were better than we are. That's just a hunch based on various comments he made during the fall and then into the season, so who knows if it's all in my mind. Could be.

But if we're talking about preparation, we kept the WVU game close in the first half and had opportunities to be in even better shape. To me, the first half is a better indication of how well a team prepared.

Regardless, we both like our chances against a .500-ish team and I'd love to see us get to seven wins. That would be three games better than last year and, along with two wins over top 15 teams, would be something Pruitt could use to sell the program and its direction going forward.

I agree about the 1st half.

Games can spiral out of hand quickly and that's not necessarily an indication of the final score. I still think last week's game was lost early in the 3rd quarter after UT took the KO and scored to cut it to 9. UT had Mizzou 3rd and 6 and 3-4 guys missed tackles to stop them. They convert, go on to score, and the game was over at that point, IMO.
