The Last Time We Beat Florida...

in 2004, when we last beat Florduh:

Brittany Spears got married twice

Janet Jackson had a wardrobe malfunction at the Super Bowl

Ken Jennings won 74 games and 2.5 Million dollars on Jeopardy

William Hung lost on American Idol, but won America's collective heart

Facebook Launched (College only)

Shrek 2, Spiderman 2, Passion of the Christ

Our head coach was the Running Backs coach for a Central Michigan squad that went 4-7.

As a side bar for that Central Michigan team. It was under first year head coach Brian Kelly who was hired to replace Mike DeBord who had complied a 12 - 34 record in his 4 years as head coach.

Our defensive coordinator was Head Coach at Columbia University.

Our AD was at FSU and our Chancellor was at Florida

Steve Spurrier wasn't a head coach.

Nick Saban only had 1 National Championship and hadn't yet coached in the NFL

Everyone was Myspace friends with Tom.

I had to get a co-worker that had asked off to watch the game on TV to cover my shift.

Went like this:

Me: I need you to work for me Saturday.

Him: You know the only reason I'm off is to watch the game.

Me: Yep, but I've got a ticket to the game.

Him: You know I have to say yes.

Me: Yep, I owe you one, forever.

He's only called in the favor about 10 times so far.

Still worth it and I still owe him.

Now that is a cool story bro

10 and 7 year olds here and they have a hard time believing the first time I saw UT beat FL was in a driving rain storm in Neyland. I think they believe it only happens like a 50 year flood.

I don't know what's happened since then. It's all been a blur. I need focus again. I need a win.

Dude, that's kind of funny. You and the other guy posted back to back and both of your avatars look like they were taken almost from the exact same seat AND TIME at Neyland (different games of course). What a cool little coincidence.

This could be a disaster thread or fun. Probably a disaster. Here goes. In 2004, I:

was 22
was engaged to be married (still married)
had no kids (I have 3 now)
played minor league baseball
had abs (still there, just covered in layers in preparation for zombie apocalypse)
had my mom alive
had no debt
ate Ramen noodles weekly (now only when my wife goes out of town)
had never heard of Youtube
had 1 dog (he's still kicking, plus my wife's ankle biter)
had a Lexus (now have a Hyundai)

Additionally -

George W. Bush was in his 1st term

Yeah! From Usher featuring Lil Jon and Luda was the #1 song in the land (that might explain our curse)

Nokia 2600 was the best-selling cell phone in America

The internet was sloooooowwwweeerr:
Dial-up: 34kbps
DSL: 861kbps
Cable: 2,178kbps

I'm sure I missed a ton. What else you got!?

It was one week before the birth of my son.

I was a 28 y/o TSgt in the Air Force (medically retired in early 2005).

My grandparents were still alive.

My big screen tv sat on the floor.

Had Cingular for wireless.
