The last time Tennessee lost by double digits...

Was two years ago against Alabama. Think about that. From 2010-2013 nearly every loss was a blow out. One of the things that Butch has done that has been overlooked is how he has made us a respectable opponent that no one can overlook. Gone are the days of losing by 30 or 40 to top ranked teams. Last year was a prime example. We played 2 teams who played in the playoff and lost by single digits to both and it was a game until the final seconds.

Gave you a like for the info and positive outlook. I agree with the general premise of your post, and there's no questioning the distance UT has come since Butch took over.

I will mention that at UT, merely being competitive won't cut it for very long. Any coach here will always be expected to not only compete, but ultimately win his share of those games.

Butch got a big win last Sat, and has chances to win a couple more big ones over the next 3 weeks. He's at a school that will build statues and name roads after you if you win - not to mention retiring a wealthy man.

Not enough credit given to coach Jones and his staff. The dumpster fire he inherited took work to put out. He did it. This team is resilient. This team has character. This team won't quit anymore.

'you won't have Tennessee to kick around anymore'

Dooley was right. he was just predicting the future.

I do not think our fan base is significantly different from any other fan base that shows a passion for their respective team. Allowing yourself to get as high as we do for the wins, and as low as we do for the losses wil result in some unjustifiable behaviour. It is human nature.

I agree. But, it is an aspect of human nature that needs to be publicly condemned, and not something that should be explained away as expected behavior from passionate fans.

I love this thread and I love you guys, but slow your MFing roll (Morgan Freemaning). We beat a Florida team with a backup QB. I know it was a big win, but I'm reading this and wondering how we became better than Bama in one week.

Sheesh. A game at a time, fellas!

Where in this thread did anybody say we were better than Bama?

Did I misread the posts that stated we're more worried about A&M? The two or three posts about Losing to A&M and beating Bama? In addition to those posts the whole tone of the thread.

Sorry if I misread or misunderstood.

Lol Bama is what I meant. Need to edit

That is the double-edged sword with this place. Lots of activity means lots of great discussion. But it also means when you make a mistake somebody pounces on it immediately.

The only mention of Bama was that they were the last team we lost by double digits to. Not exactly the same thing as "we are better than Bama".

You're right. I was on "A&M has the College Football Belt" and then jumped over here.

Sorry about that.

I love Butch JONES! We was on par with vandy and ky b4 he brought us back from the dead! He ended a streak vs GA and Florida! Bama is next! Butch is driven. How do you think he can recruit so well bc he has passion and it's sad the bs he and our players haft to endure. We have the best and worst fan base Cfb

We unleashed the hounds. That's why. The back up qb sure looked fine to me. I don't think del Rio could have done much better. The first half would have probably been the exact same. The nerves chilled and they came to play ball second half. The playbook was open. This is the team we expected to see. What difference would del Rio have made against the defense in the second half?

Appleby had 2 seconds to get rid of the ball before he was orange swarmed. Del Rio couldn't have changed that. Let's not downplay just because we made them look like clowns! This is the world's greatest defense after all right?

Balls being dropped changed the score from a total blow out. This team showed out. Stop the hate and realize that this team is damn good and I won't put it past them to come out of this stretch absolutely undefeated. Sure it's a long shot. Team 120 can do big things. They just have to focus and do it. The talent and schemes are there, and I don't see any reason to doubt they can get it done until they fail to do so.
