The Last Thing You Purchased II

Was your GTI manual or auto?
Manual. I want to daily drive a manual until they are no longer available. Much like you and your GLI(awesome choice, btw).

One the reasons I went with the integra. Not many cars with 4 doors, manual transmission, good rear legroom and was faster than the GTI. Only other manual sedans beyond the ITS are the M3 and CT4 black wing. Both are a ton more money. Civic type R was an option, but I wanted some creature comforts and I prefer the integras looks.

I completely understand.

My only complaint with the Integra is the back seat head room. Other than that, it’s hard to beat.

I’m usually not a modder, but there’s a lot you can do to the GLI…😂

Yeah, the rear headroom is tight, legroom is very good. Tons of space in the hatch/trunk.

Yeah, that GLI has very high potential. If it’s like the GTI and it is set to run 87 from the factory, a tune to run 93 octane can really add some zest.

It does run on 87.

I know it has the last gen Golf R brakes.

I didn't know these existed until I ran out of wiper fluid, so I thought I'd pass along to help other like me that cannot stand looking out of a dirty windshield. Dissolvable wiper fluid tablets. 100 gallons of wiper fluid for $7. 1 gallon at WalMart is 3 or 4 bucks. This will last me for a very long time.

Wanted to check in and see how those dissolvable tablets are working out...I was thinking of ordering some but wanted to see how they are performing first.

Looks like a lifetime supply to me.

But maybe the oil change people fill the tank when I get my oil changed.

Doesnt work below freezing. Could lead to issues in that environment....

Where I'm located it doesn't hard freeze too often, but I did see that noted in a bunch of reviews so I'd probably switch to conventional from December through early March. I was wondering whether it does a decent job cleaning, if it doesn't screw with the paint, etc.

Works good for me. Best to fill up your water jug first and then drop the tablet in, doing it the opposite way produces a lot of foam. A couple of notable things though - if you have a white car some reviews say it leaves blue streaks. My car is blue so not an issue for me. And also can't really use in winter bc it will freeze.

Understood, thanks for the info!

Stick-on foam safety corners for $8 on Amazon as my bed (the best bed ever minus this one aspect) has a platform structure that my shins are constantly bruised from hitting. I would not go for a platform but this was too good to pass up when I bought it, really nice heavy wood with built in headboard shelving. Sturdiest bed I’ve ever owned. Cant believe I went years without discovering this simple solution.

Other random cheap things Ive bought that were worth every penny:

Rechargeable neck fan for $20. This thing is godsend on hot summer days.

Rubber foam standing mats for kitchen. $25-30. Easy to clean. Love standing on them.

Headlight cleaner with cleaning pads. $10

Portable rechargeable jump starter. $99

Rubber bathtub drain stopper that catches long hair instead of the screw-in plug it came with that doesn’t catch hair. Easy to clean. $5

Cloth door hanging shoe rack. We don’t have enough closet space and my girlfriend needed something for her 30 pairs of shoes. We bought two to hang on inside of closet doors. $20 each

What do you have when you have 30 pairs of shoes? Not enough shoes.
My wife probably has 50 pair. She took about twenty pair to Goodwill this morning. Uh-oh! Prolly more to come.

Did it break as you were opening it?
No. Didn’t experience any of the issues listed in the negative reviews. Buying it was cheaper than buying the base unit by itself. I use the base with my pole saw attachment, and these did what I needed them to do. I have a 20+ yr old weed whacker that’s still going strong.

I used to develop real estate, and had a gas powered Stihl weed eater. I bought it in 93, and used it almost daily until 03 to keep neighborhoods lookin neat. Then I used it at my home until I had poor health in 18. I gave it to my neighbor, and he is still using it.
I looked for equipment(water pump, mower, etc.) with a Honda motor except for the Stihl weed eater and chain saw.
The Honda mower was great. I hadn't started it in 2 years, and sold it to my neighbor. I told him it always started on the first pull. When he tried to start it it started on the first pull.
