I took the dog out one night a couple of years ago, and it was dark. I had just killed a copperhead earlier, and a snake came darting out from under my wife's van. I stomped the crap out of it. Went and got a light, and it was a small black snake

Sorry, I’m behind on a lot of threads. At work, we have, what we call a pass through. It’s a short cut between the kitchen and the main dining room. The pass through is having to briefly go on a porch between the two. One of my servers (one of my best) had to deliver a plate to a resident at dinner this evening, through the pass through today, he told me, while balancing the meal, had to step over a black snake on the porch, that was slithering away and never skipped a beat.

Black snakes are normally harmless, and will not bother you. I've only killed one on purpose, because somehow that joker got in the house where we used to live. I was afraid it'd get back in and bite the kids.
