Yea. If you want to tag someone (give them an alert so they know you mentioned them) just do @ and start typing their name and a drop down with names will appear, just click on it.

I didn't get the purpose of it at first, but it will be perfect when talking to someone in the FF and you want to tell them something semi private or off topic, you can come here and tag them.
