Update on the hot water heater: Again yesterday, I had trouble with the pilot light. This time I was unable to get it re-lit. I called the gas company because they installed the new water heater about 15 months ago. They came out to the house later that afternoon and replaced the valve in the pilot light. The worker told me that there was a design flaw in the valve which caused them to fail after several months of use. The guy also told me that they became aware of the problem ALMOST A YEAR AGO and that they've already changed out all the valves in the water heaters they have in stock at the gas company and have been replacing valves already in use as calls come in. It did not cost me anything for the repair as the worker told me it was still under warranty. So my question to Volnation is: Am I wrong in thinking that the gas company after fixing the ones they had in stock should have been calling their customers that had already had these water heaters installed and slowly replacing the valves BEFORE they broke? I mean that just seems like a crappy way of doing business to me, but I may be wrong... What say you Volnation?
