There's been alot of stats thrown out around here....

In the last 5 years...blah, blah

In the last 10 years...blah, blah

Last nght I was thinking about the last 4 years...since Ainge and his class came in...

Now I know that the worst season in school history happened in that span...BUT...think about this..

In that same span only two teams have played for the SEC championship more than once...

You got it...

LSU....and...UT

Let's give some credit where credit is due...it's been up and down but the players from that class and the coaches that brought them up deserve plenty of credit...

That's one stat that only one other team in the SEC can brag about

LSU has played for it every other year since 01.

Georgia played for it in 03 and 05 (2/3 years at one point)

2/4 isn't that special.

No player in the SEC that came arrived in '04 and doesn't play for UT or LSU can say they've played for more than one...

That's a pretty big accomplishment for these seniors in my book

That is absolutely ridiculous. 2/4 isnt special? Getting to the championship every other year in the SEC is great. To think otherwise explains some of the dilusions of the never satisfied group of fans.

It wasn't every other year. It was 1 year, two years in between, then another year. It's the same three year pattern we've been on since 1998.

How is it special if we don't win one?

At what point does it become special just getting there?

Have we turned into Arky or something?

100% correct. The goal is an SEC Championship. The only way to reach it is to win the game. Yes, it feels good to play for it, but this ain't the top of the mountain!

If it's no big deal...if it's so easy to do...then why are we one of only two teams with a senior class that's been there twice?

In this league it IS a big deal getting there....and then it's an even bigger deal winning it

And before anyone says it....NO...I'm not completely happy with just getting there...

But I'm not going to down play it either....there will be some very good teams sitting at home for at least the third time in the past 4 years this Saturday

If they lose Saturday night, this class leaves having accomplished absolutely nothing.

Winning this one on saturday would be huge, and i know Georgia and Florida will be stacked next year but we will be right there in position to win the east again.

Just need a little something to push us over the edge... and i'm ready for it:rock:

If UT loses Saturday, UT is 9-4, same as last season. Although going to a better bowl.

that is the danger if you lose 3 in a row......but this year is different in years past.....in 01 we were good.....losing the SEC title game was a HUGE disappointment. in 04 we were good, but i don't think anyone was shocked that we lost to an undefeated Auburn team.

this year.....has the word "over acheiver" written all over it considering how our season started. this year, getting there has been a very good thing and something to be excited about.

If they lose Saturday night, this class leaves having accomplished absolutely nothing.
but at the end of the day......this is 100% correct.

this year with an title game loss, i'd have to see us win the bowl game before i could label this season. right now it's been a good season. not great. win the title.......great doesn't even beging to describe it.

I agree that the goal is to win it and anything less is extremely disappointing...

But you don't think there's any merit in fighting through the toughest conference in the nation for 3 months and coming out on top of the toughest division in said conference?

After all the adversity we've been through this year...I'm ready to give credit where credit is due

For these seniors to get there twice in a 4 year career is impressive to me

then I'm gonna be p.o. that was suppose to go the SEC runner-up and Florida finished 3 in the SEC east.

They get the next choice that is not a bcs team not exactly the automatic runner-up from SECCG The SEC winner and Georgia will get BCS bowl bids. The Capital One Bowl will choose the team that they think is best.
