On the offensive side of the ball is what is killing this team to many outside shots. Drive the ball in and work the paint quit dumping it out to Trae for the 3 that he rarely hits. We practice physical ball but we have ball control issues when any player on our team gets bumped. That is all:hi:

We also don't run any plays besides the pass it back and forth on the perimeter until someone jacks up a miss.

2nd year coach with missing pieces to this team. If Maymon comes back 100%, Stokes continues to improve, Hubbs comes in and makes his presence known and the backcourt begins to contribute consistently this team will do well, not great, but well.

That's pretty much what we've done for the last decade. It just looked better when we had shooters like Lofton who could bail out a poor offensive possession.

I agree with most. IMO, if Maymon calls back healthy with next years class, I believe we'll do very well.:clapping.

Not sure he would have been interested. He has had opportunities to leave just like Stevens at Butler. They are waiting for big jobs because they can. They are both being paid a decent salary and are young legends at their schools.

If people were shocked that we couldn't land a big time football coach, basketball is much worse. We have a solid program with good support, but there are probably 30 or more programs that arguably better or on the same level of us. You won't hire big time, proven coaches at that level. You have to make the right hire with a coach who is taking a step up as Buzz, Bruce, and Cuonzo all did.

I don't think he'd consider leaving for many jobs. Same with Stevens

Never heard the full story...if we approached and he shot us down ok...he's still at VCU two years later so maybe that's the situation

I'd be willing to say great. Pre-season, Stokes and Maymon were considered one of the best front-court combos in the nation, and I still believe they could be if Maymon weren't injured.

We hired an apparent up and coming coach. It's beating a dead horse but there are many issues that have affected this team.

1) Injuries, whether people want to admit it or not, are a big part of that. You don't lose your Pre-Season First Team All SEC forward and it not affect you, especially when the offense was run through him.

2) Turnovers. We turn the ball over too much for a team that plays as slow as we do. Trae being hurt doesn't help, as does not landing a quality point guard in recruiting for the last few years.

3) 3 point shooting. This team hasn't had someone shoot above 40% for a season since Josh Tabb in the 2008-2009 season. Before that not since Lofton in the 2006-2007 season. That's 2 40% 3 point shooters in the last 7 years. It's a problem for Martin and it was a problem for Bruce as well.

4) Consistent point guard play. We just don't have one. We have missed on quality point guards and guys that were supposed to be good just didn't pan out. It's unforunate, and something that needs to be taken care of.

^ great post and very rationale thinking CA, pretty much how I feel.

We were already pretty thin and lost the guy we probably could least afford to lose. Now we lose our only PG, and our best ball handler. There's a glaring weakness on this team, and an area you can probably follow a lot of our problems back to...PG play.

If Zo and staff don't go out and get a "true PG" in the offseason I will lose a lot of my faith in them. Next years team will be good, but without adding a PG they once again will be limited and lose to teams who have goo guard play and apply heavy ball pressure.

I tend to only post when I have something to say. I appreciate the compliment. I'm with you on the point guard recruiting. I don't believe in him but I'm hoping Landry ends up being that point guard wen eed.

I think Landry will help, he's a better option than moore or McRae at PG...however, we need to add another in addition to Landry.

proper spacing would make everyone a better passer, dribbler and shooter as well. Bad spacing makes everything worse
