I know, I know it was ugly but it was a W. Turnovers and blocked punt kept us from putting it away. But I think this is the kind if win we needed. I think its safe to say most of us expect the offense to win by lighting up the scoreboard. That didnt happen, but the defense pulled us through. I think that will be a huge confidence builder going forward. Before today Im not sure any of us thought we could win one this way.

I said last week the Defense showed absolutely nothing for a reason. They showed today what they can do! GBO

I think Pitt proved their a legit ranked team.

I also believe Tennessee proved they can beat a legit team while on the road……also while not playing their best, not scoring a ton of points and playing the slow game at times.

That’s huge.

If we play clean football games, we are gonna win a lot of football games this year. I do think the defense is a little better. Let's clean up the penalties and turnovers.

I’ll give the defense a looking better grade, but let’s not forget get it was an injured back up QB to end the game for Pitt.

Agreed. I didn't think we had "toughness" needed to win a slobber knocker like today. Teams grow from games like today. Our lack of talent/depth will still be a limiting factor, but as long as these kids keep fighting, good things will come.

I was remembering the Dooley loss to Missouri in OT when they had to score from the 12 or so and they did. Similar situation and it was pretty close.

Fair but we were in the backfield all day long. Improvement is improvement

No doubt. I was concerned about getting pressure and being physical. Consider my questions answered and concerns unfounded. Pitt will be in the ice bath tonight.

Still concerned big time about the back end though. It’s just not good.

This was the type of game that we have typically lost the past decade or so. Feels good to come out on the winning end. Maybe our guys have learned to compete and not quit.

It was a game that we would lose ten out of ten times the last several years, so a tough, hard fought win was more than welcome. But there's a whole lot to clean up, the 4th quarter was a nightmare and they had an awful backup QB playing on one leg - make one damn play and that game was over early.

On the flip side, beating a quality team in a tough environment on the road while playing about as badly as we could is a huge sign of growth in the program. Just the fact that the kids finally experienced winning a game like that was more than worth the frustration.

I agree. I think getting Dee Williams back and Rucker will help. Give me a good pass rush over secondary any day of the week tho

Yeah it was good, now it shows we are all finesse but we can grind it out as well, and that’s huge in the conference we play in.
