On another note is it me or does it seem like our team not only doesn’t play hard, the scheme, the players attitudes but also the other things that made the LVs special is slowly disappearing ? I use to love all the volunteering we did as a team and adopting a family for christmas but it seems like those things that were bigger than basketball are also disappearing.

Did we adopt a family like we had in the past? And i’m one of the biggest LV fans on here and not going anywhere with my team (as hard as it is to swallow right now and hopefully we turn it around) but i’m curious if those little things also are playing into what is seemingly going on.

being relatively new to Tennessee, I've actually been surprised by the relative lack of volunteering that Tennessee Athletics does as a whole.

Wondered the same thing. As much time as we had off and we didn’t do any type of volunteering for Christmas? I mean I guess it’s possible they did do something and didn’t advertise it, but they normally do.

Don't disagree with anything you said. DW took a big chance with Kim, he will have to live with the consequences if it doesn't work out. Never have lived in the Knox area so cannot comment on the volunteering but that is sad if its not happening anymore.

Coach Kim closed her introductory press conference with "All Glory to God." She also stated in a late-Autumn interview that her team has a Bible Club. This is not insignificant. I don't know when, where, or what our Lady Volunteers do as acts of charity, but, this might be the reason:

"But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth. That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth secret himself shall reward the openly." Matthew, Chapter 6, verse 3 - 4.

*I am not asserting that this is the case with our Coach. And while public image is important, in giving, we are instructed by the Son of God to do so in secret.

Name one WBB team that has a second five that is as talented as the starters? The answer is “zero”.
Now one issue with Tennessee is the coaching staff won’t even settle in on a starting five.
If they did then perhaps there would be some consistency in starting games with a group that has been able to build in-game chemistry.

Third the top five players should be playing at least 30 even in this system. Our second five does not have the talent level of our top five so they need to play less in games against the top teams. Can definitely use them more against easier competition.

Fans always assume we didn’t get this or that coach as if the outcome for Tennessee was to recycle a so called veteran or proven coach.
It was the right hire. Anyone thinking Tennessee job is undesirable is talking nonsense. I remember two years ago people claim top HS recruits couldn’t be recruit to Tennessee and were wrong too.
Since then CKC has signed 4 5-star Top 20 (3 Top 10) McDonalds All Americans and 3 4-star Top 50 recruits. If you think that’s just because of NIL you don’t know sports.
The issue in this case wasn’t the CKC hire a year ago and anyone making that argument is clueless.
The LV head coach and coaching staff has stacked talent including 8 5-star top 20 recruits and 7 4-star top 30-60 recruits at a rate never seen before in 20 months for any new WBB staff.
In addition they finished year 1 ranked in the Top 15 making it to the S16.
This head coach and staff has laid a great foundation. The setback is the head coach has to adapt and grow to move this program forward. Every successful coach continues to develop, improve, and accept accountability when things do not go as planned. That is the next step for Coach Caldwell to go from good to great. In my opinion CKC is already a better coach than the previous one.

I totally agree with the scripture and all good works don’t need to be known.

HOWEVER, in this case i’m talking about a beloved LV tradition which I think made the ladies put others before themselves.

I think not having Cat Greene (who did a lot of this stuff and made sure to keep the team grounded) probably has something to do with it too.

To be honest from what i’ve heard the putting me first is what worries me and while i’m not in the locker room things are starting to align with what ive heard.

Anyways, hoping for a successful SEC and NCAA run ! Love the lady vols !

What will probably happen is we’ll meet in the muddy middle. Kim and her system will be successful, but only after considerable changes to compete at this level.

Also, how are we defining ‘worked’? What results make all the baggage of the system worth it?

In terms of "working," I think she has to surpass Kellie's outcomes at minimum, which would be better than a S16 and/or a top 2 in conference. And that really needs to happen in the next 2 to 3 seasons (which I think would be the limit to everyone's (including DW) patience.

I am old school enough to believe that if the "system" truly is the secret sauce, then it should lead to a Final 4 appearance in the next 2 or 3 seasons.

Yeah all you need to do is Google his AD success. Most of his hires at Buffalo were hired away by power 4 schools . The amount of funds he has raised at each school made them competitive and stronger in all sports. Then there's these large donor schools that have more money for NIL than 97% of the schools can compete with. Everyone wants more money ! When you're trying to make all sports competitive for championships it's going to be thinned down. These other schools mainly focus on football the sport that generated the most money. Probably could focus on just a couple of teams every 2 years with all the resources and acquire the players needed to buy a championship. But he focuses on making everyone happy and that rarely works out.

Agree with this Mud. I believe that is how DW operates. He gives you the $ to get the players to compete for championships and expects you to use it to compete for championships. Kim seems to be getting the high ranked players, now the hard part, win something.

Every team has NIL but do I do believe TN is at the top and to its credit invests in the WBB NIL. I also believe in the last two season more NIL money has been poured into it. 3x National Championship coach Dawn Staley made reference to needing more money. So even in the SEC not every team is on an even playing field with players.

It doesn’t matter if you lose a game by 1 or 21 points…a loss is a loss. Doesn’t change the outcome.
The issue is losing games playing a one dimensional system and refusing to divert from the principles of the system in live action.
Atleast 5 or more games could’ve had a different ending against Top 25 teams if simple adjustments had been made at the appropriate time.

I'm not tracking everything down I just think he's bringing in the money and has a really good track record for good hires . He didn't hire coaches like Dooley , the Gump from bama or lame kiffen . Nate Oates bama basketball coach he hired at Buffalo has been to final 4 . Also think he hired Bob Hurley at Buffalo. Like you said he gets the money. Coaches also can aquire big donors to help there specific causes. I know Barnes has a very special donor that helps bring in players for men's basketball.

I listen to us Congress man talking about limiting one transfer per athletic.
Congressman said it would help small colleges be competitive
You watch games ESPN and SEC network are pushing for it passing.

You can say anything as a fan doesn’t change the All-American honors and rankings in 20 months.. #1/#2 HS class in 2025, #1 portal class in 2025, and #9 HS class featuring the no. 2 recruit in 2026.
And just likes Lauren Betts who averaged 5 ppg as a freshmen the system and coaching matters.
So keep those lame jokes and wait & see. Talent is always going to be talent.
