The Kim Caldwell System

Your perverse need to follow every post I make on this forum is really pathetic at this stage. Nobody is even playing you any attention no matter how hard you try. In conversations between other posters and myself that have nothing to do with you it is is downright funny seeing you salivate to make a comment as if you are significant to the dialogue. You are good everytime for laughs I promise you that.

I’m not arguing either side. But the only thing that
has changed is the players, the coaching remains the same. Twisted logic. But it is not unexpected considering the source, the same poster who just today said Stanford is a better team than Louisville.

I never signed up for the free entertainment your ever evolving rants provide, but I am guilty of taking a free handout when offered. Your posts are and always have been the type of free gold that are literally irresistible at times. I confess, it’s a lack of self control on my part but the fruit is so low hanging and tempting…Blame it on Eve.

You have no perspective, so that’s insignificant. I’ll never be impacted by what you post. Nearly every post made today by me has gotten multiple reactions or responses from posters that agree and the dialogue has been outstanding. You have an issue with people who think differently than you like this isn’t the internet.
At this point, trying to force a poster to do or say something as you continue to do when bringing no substance to the conversation just to get them banned when posters you support openly on here do and say things 10x worse is hysterically low.
My point has been proven.

Such an ironic perspective… 🧐

Not to get off topic, I recall watching some old presser with Kim claiming some of the teams that were scheduled this year and last wasn't hers but next year she'll have control who will be the schedule.

Quick question - Do you all know who those teams are? I would assume one was Conn. The UCLA was definitely all Kim's and probably Danny's after what happened with football.

Danny expects all of our teams to compete for championships. I think the short term goal for Kim is to be better than Kellie or why did we make a change? So far she has matched what Kellie did in the tourney with a sweet sixteen. Her recruiting has been way better, though the checkbook has apparently been opened more these days. I know one of the main stats that made me ready to move on from Kellie was her record against ranked teams. It wasn’t anywhere near acceptable. At the moment, Kim’s record is 4-10 against ranked teams.
So firing Kellie was a mistake? Maybe he should’ve given her a year with the funds he had available for Kim and see what she could’ve done with it!

When the last time the Football team competed for a championship? Yet his boy gets a pass every season it seems!

While it was a tough draw obviously making the CFP is competing for a Championship, so last year

Oh ok, 42-17 in the first round of the playoffs is competing for a championship, I guess because they loss to the National Champion means they competed how’d they do this year and the year before last! We’re competing! I love it!

You’re question was when was the last time football competed for a championship.

Last year they were in the CFP ranked as the 9th team out of 136 total teams in a tournament designed to crown a National Champion. So i would consider that competing for it. I also believe if they would have gotten a bit luckier on the draw they probably could have even won a game or two.

Yeah, maybe she will change to a schedule that resembles LSUs schedule. I wonder, are there any more Tennessee schools that may need some money?

If shes going to continue the world’s most complicated system to teach and learn, virtually sacrificing the first third of the season, she absolutely has to cupcake up the schedule. Mulkey style at least.

Here is the irony of this system to my uneducated BB eyes. Last yrs team, with half the roster of players that supposedly were not athletically suited to play Kim's system, played it a lot better than this yr.'s team that is full of athletic players.

You could say last yrs team just had more experienced players but most of the players on this team are experienced players. The lack of BB fundamentals??

I'd like to see a study on the quality of the 2 minute rest after the all out 2 minute stint, as compared to the more traditional 5 minute break after a 10 or 12 minute stretch. Does the quality of the recovery compare? Is it even possible to go as hard as humanly capable and then recover from it in two minutes and do it again? A dozen or so times a game?

We've seen that training for this incredibly demanding system is precarious They admittedly overtrained last year, causing the team to run out of gas. But may have under trained this year, as they've seemed gassed earlier. It's another way that this system seems unnecessarily difficult.
Personally ,I would like to see Coach double the amount of time between substitution cycles. This gives more time for chemistry between those on the floor and I do not think that doubling the time to 4 minutes would be a big deal physically .
Also switch turn off full court press on occasion go to 3/4 court press or no press at all for awhile .Switch up the press to 2/1/2 to 1/2/2 to 2/2/1.

That’s fair. It’s been 1 season. Let’s at least see through a cycle or two lol
I agree. This year hasn’t ended, and she’ll get plenty of time since Danny hired her and will see it through. You had asked what people’s expectations are so I listed what I think the majority of people would say. I am not expecting her to win 8 championships. Staley and Mulkey don’t even have that many. The first season was promising, but I would say so far, with more of her selected players, the second season has regressed. I hope they can catch fire, but I just do not know if we have all the right pieces at the moment.

She doesn’t make substations according to the game, she just has them on a time clock, and the subs just come in at a certain time.
I was pretty disappointed yesterday that when some players clearly gave up in the second half, she didn’t just bench them the rest of the way. It was clear we weren’t coming back. At that point put in Wynn and others who are at least going to put in effort to the end.

As someone already posted above, in this system with all the subs, the bench can’t really be used as a motivator. I know today’s athletes are different, but it might do some players some good to sit and think a little bit if they aren’t showing fight. Now they know they’ll just go back in within two minutes.

Sometimes u need to send a message, u can’t have players quit and keep them in the game. Bench them and next time they’ll do better. But anyway I don’t like players who quit, get them off the team.
