The Kim Caldwell System

This is a great explanation of why it could work at Glenville and even at Marshall during their regular season, until they encountered Virginia Tech. But to expect it to work night in and night out against the best in the SEC, it’s not happening. Can we pull a few upsets—sure.

Perhaps we would have been better off to flip flop our schedule and start out with all these season ending ranked teams and save our 6-0 starting record to end the season. Too many fans forgot to look at what was ahead and were so hyped about being in 1st place when we were 6-0.

I listened to today’s presser and am glad she still feels she hasn’t lost the team, and that fixing a few things can make the difference. We will find out when we play LSU and Vandy. Even a close loss will give us some hope but please not another 20-30 point blow-out to a top team. Please allow your best players to compete and stay on the court together for awhile, Kim. Give them a chance to prove themselves. Sub as needed and with purpose. No chaos please. Run some offense. I want us to look poised, prepared and confident on the court. Not halter shelter!
Very much how I see it . One of the biggest things I noticed is it's the personal on the floor that has to run the offense. I watched the 2 games posted in the threads the championship game and the lose in the final 4. The personal in the championship game ran the offense the way it's intended to be run . The final 4 lose they were rushing 3 point shots and not working the ball. She had lost her 2 point guards from the championship team to the transfer portal they ran the offense well just like our guards did last year. We didn't really have the post players last year and especially not this year to have a complete team.

And to add to this, the competition she was playing was not at the level of most SEC teams. I think about the press and when we play the so called cupcakes we cause so many turnovers because many at that level are not elite ball handlers. But you are hardly going to faze Raven Johnson etc. Kim’s championship team executed well against their competition but we all know it would not have looked like that against most teams in the SEC. They aren’t playing in the SEC for a reason, no matter how efficient they were. Thats no disrespect to them.

Now is it possible to take the cream of the crop with this system and have success? I guess we will find out. First we need ten elite interchangeable players. A feat in itself. But that’s why she is getting paid the million dollar salary. To get it done.

I just don't think it's realistic to count on having 10 exceptional players and do 5 x 5 subbing. Think she needs to sub 2 or 3 at each stage keeping 2 or 3 of your top 5 on the floor at all times and that in it's self takes a lot of really good personal . She's still adjusting and has stopped trapping full game.

You've got to understand sometimes you can only buy what you can afford. We don't know who was on top of the list. Think Barker was the highest priced and she has a attitude problem. On the cheap that never panned out was Wolf. Robertson just been too unsteady. Freshman would like to keep Prawl, Civil and Hurst for the twins Dad may end up being a problem also. Sometimes it's just hard to get a team to come together with 8 new players.
The twins need to decide if they want to play for Kim or their Dad. Coming out with a public statement would be nice. Until that point in time, imma leavea sounds about right.
