Let’s not depend on a freshman to be our savior. We are going to need multiple posts and we need some with experience. We also need shooters. Depending on who may hit the portal i don’t know what our needs will be but we do know we are losing both posts

She has to be frustrated with herself for thinking she could compete in the SEC without legit Forwards and a legit center or two.

She recruited every single forward/post on this team.

Not sure how this got switched into the Oklahoma game thread, but oh well.

My biggest disappointment with this year is that I was interested to see what Kim's system could do. Sure, I wanted it (and her) to succeed. I've pulled for Tennessee since I was a kid on a farm in West Tennessee listening to John Ward on the radio. Tennessee games were big dates for my wife and I while in school (along with the theater prorgrams!). But I like different, new, interesting things. I'm high curiosity. And I thought this season, I'd get a better look at Kim's system. Instead, I think I feel the way she seems to from what she's said. I haven't seen much of it. We've rarely run it well, with energy and mental focus, through good stretches and bad. I'm not sure exactly why that's the case, but it seems to be a fact.

Now, I'm wondering what players she will have to run her system next year, and how she thinks about changing it given that it may not have ever been really played well this season.

I'm hoping (but feeling quite uncertain), that this team will play out this season the way they played today. But, past history does not suggest they will sustain it over a stretch of games. Hope they break the trend, but...

And the worst part is, just a bit better this year and we'd have been good enough to possibly lay a foundation to get the rest of the players we're going to need for next year (and keep the ones we have). ARRGGGHHHH!

I think CKC can become a great coach but the her reliance on a single system is an Achilles heel and the evidence is mounting to support that claim,.

Also, a "system" that requires this ---10-12 highly skilled, very athletic, three-point shooting adept players who are completely interchangeable because they can excel at all five positions and always do so with a "hive mind" -- in order to be successful is NOT a system. It is a fantasy.

She did recruit the, most through the portal and had to get what she could get in a short time span. He Freshman class is really god and she has , at least, really good Freshmen coming in for next Fall. We will have to see what she can get in the portal this year to supplement the two freshmen. She will have a more talented team in the Fall of 2026 , especially inside. I expect next year’s team to be much better and consistent. She may have to limit substitutions more because of young talent will be much more talented than the upper classmen. The portal may change that if it is better than last year.

I like the freshman class they have done a pretty decent job to be freshman. Now if the twins dad is getting to involved then that’s a problem and if that means them transferring so be it. Just need to make this portal count. I don’t think everyone expected coach to win it all in year 2 she will either figure it out or she will be gone.

She recruited latham, spearman, and barker that’s on her in terms of our post play. All those kids she brought in

Danny said that we would be competing for championships immediately when he hired her. Instead, we're looking at reaching historic lows in the state of Lady Vol Basketball.

She didn't press. Full court man to man is difference then sending a trap beyond the half court. The problem is they have no half court plays on both sides.

Its obvious. Kim wants to outscore her appoinet, and turn them over. After that she has zero offense sets.

As much as we all dislike him, Nick Saban, was successful because he adapted his system to accommodate his talent. Saban would have preferred to run it four yards three plays in a row and get the first down. When the game changed universally to a spread, RPO and sling it, he recruited more athleticism and even brought in that guy coached here for a short term.

If the system doesn’t evolve to accommodate level of talent and ability on the floor, then the “system” might be digested by opponents. Let’s see how good of a coach she really is or we will see how stubborn she is and listen to her fast talking analysis on a network in a year or two as she becomes a commentator.

You've got to understand sometimes you can only buy what you can afford. We don't know who was on top of the list. Think Barker was the highest priced and she has a attitude problem. On the cheap that never panned out was Wolf. Robertson just been too unsteady. Freshman would like to keep Prawl, Civil and Hurst for the twins Dad may end up being a problem also. Sometimes it's just hard to get a team to come together with 8 new players.

Exactly. In this wild of world of NIL/portal, kids that a lot of want to keep will probably be here 1-2 years max. There is no more university loyalty anymore. Granted the Hannahs, Jujus, and Sarahs will stay put at their universities because of the money and endless winning culture. But all it takes for one bad season or a good season that ends empty handed (N. Dame last season) for a lot of kids at other schools before they throw their names in the pot. Like I said before there are kids at these P4s and midmajors right now ready for portal and know exactly where they going.

There were a few post on those transfer lists that were better, but did not fit a run and gun system. This was the main reason she got these players her system. She is going to find out if she hasn't already that they won't work in the SEC all the top teams go for the big body destroyer and they just push these skinny players out of the way.

Oh i def get that and agree! But letting them get away with what she let them get away with set a tone. I kept hollering about the tardy to shoot around thing and now we have a player being left behind because of conduct detrimental to the team. We all saw this coming a mile away. I also know people feel like if we can just get out of this train wreck of a season but i don’t feel that it gets any better because she will have to bring in a ton of new people again next year.

Kim is who she has shown us to be… that’s what worries me because this isn’t Grenville St or Marshall. In her intro presser she was excited about run and gun and not slowing it down. It sounded good because it was what we hadn’t seen but obviously in the SEC you better know how to run some sets and hang with the big girls or they’ll bury you

Yesterday when Reagan Beers beat our whole team down the floor for an uncontested layup late in the game, I thought about the many times it was gloated around here that our super smart , modern system would have old fashioned players like her begging for mercy.

Bottom line: Those posters and these coaches have turned out to be wrong about everything.

i dunno if the Walz rumors about him not wanting to come are true or why we couldn’t get another proven coach. A Kim Barnes Arico , Cori Close, someone throw a bag at them and hope it sticks! Especially with this fan base and the history with this program. If we were going to make a change it should have been for someone proven.

What other coaches might have fit here ?
