I guess since you missed the 3 or 4 times I said throughout my post that we will see in the coming falls if the deserves the hype or not I will state it again. We will see how good of a coach he is when the teams start playing my post was simply stating the reasons we will or will not be successful have little to do with our off season program and trash talking opposing coaches. I will evaluate Lane Kiffin 3-4 years from now I just am confused when I see posters talking about a 10 win season and saying its a good thing our coach is acting like a fool when the microphone is put near him, which btw also has nothing to do with the team he puts on the field. I just want our coach to stop talking and making our school look bad until he has proven himself as a coach. Now I'm going to go and enjoy a basketball game I will respond to the others later. When people wont even give the coach a chance to actually coach the team before bashing him they deserve to be trashed for the dolts they are.

Matt, you make some valid points, but with this "kill the messenger" mentality we have going on in here, you won't get alot of positive (or even neutral) response.
They will come to their senses at some point. Maybe.
You giving advice regarding being level headed and neutral is like Britney Spears giving sobriety tips to Paris Hilton.

And you being a NV Guru doesn't make you smart. It just means you have alot of time on your hands.
Ironically, you are enamored with LK as much as I detest him. So please, don't talk as if you've got an objective bone in your body.
First and foremost I want to say that I wish the best for Lane Kiffin and that he will be extremely successful but what has gone on so far is nothing short of embarrassing. Everyone is acting as though this off season program is something special and that will put us over the top of other schools but I dont think people know that by us implementing this program we are simply becoming equal to all the other elite teams. We were just long overdue for a program like this, that other programs have been running for years. I've got a couple good friend that plays for Carson-Newman and they have been running a similar morning conditioning program for the past 8-10 years. So this is nothing new we are simply just catching up and running similar programs. Conditioning IMO is more about making guys tougher and making players come together as a team then actually improving play on the field as football players dont need to be able to run a marathon they just need to get able to go full speed for 10 second bursts the whole night with breaks in between. It is good though that Kiffen is catching us up and that is his goal, I'm just simply saying the off season morning runs will not be what puts us back where we need to be, that will be on the practice field. Ed Orgeron ran a similar off season program recruited well and was intense and passionate and that led to not many wins so there is alot more to winning than just recruiting and a hard off season program. Lane Kiffin so far off the field of play so far has done nothing but replace the early vision of an enthusiastic young coach to a cocky arrogant young coach who has really yet to do anything for himself. He needs to do something very simple just shut up and coach and let the team do the talking on Saturdays. I think this offense will struggle again year one but we will see how much of a coach we do have years 3 & 4 when we have a team of almost all Kiffin boys. Thats when you see how good a coach really is. In conclusion I hope we get some wins this season and he takes us to the top but he needs to quit being an embarrassment until he has done anything worth noting.

I'm starting to get a sense that alot of the anger towards Lane is out of jealousy. Monty, Ed, David Reaves, Lance Thompson, Mitch Browning, Garza would never had come here for any other coach. Only Gran and Chaney would have come with a different coach. Lane used his connections to get the job. He also is rich and has a beautiful wife and family. I think alot of fans would prefer to have coaches more like themselves. That they can relate to. They miss the morbidly obese coaches with the triple chins. They still are crying over Phil and 3rd and Chavis. I remember how funny it was last year when everyone was complementing how good Phil and Chavis looked cause they went from 400 pounds to 350 pounds.
You act as though I'm defending Fulmer. I think Fulmer should have been fired and I think Kiffin was the best of the coaches available. I just think Kiffin needs to learn the rules and close his mouth until he has done anything worth while. I was also simply stating that his off season program is not really much different then from what everyone else is doing. I just dont get how everyone is so enamored by this guy when he has done nothing yet. I have hope in him but this trash talk is getting us no were and is embarassing to the University. Trash talk does not improve any situation even if you back it up you still look arrogant.watching last year's team was far more embarrassing than anything Kiffin has done thus far.
