The Impeachment Thread

Huh? She was granted trademarks in China based on applications she filed in 2016. Please help me understand how she has made money based simply on the trademarks being approved.
And she didn’t get daddy to use his power to get a prosecutor fired who was looking into his fake employer

Viktor Shokin was fired because he wasn't looking into corruption in the Ukraine. Viktor Shokin had failed to obtain convictions of any major figures while serving as the General Prosecutor of the Ukraine. No oligarchs had been prosecuted, no bureaucrats, nobody. The investigation into Burisma Holdings had gone dormant at the time of Viktor Shokin's firing. The entire EU wanted Viktor Shokin fired. Viktor Shokin wasn't investigating corruption in the Ukraine, he was a party to it. I know that is inconvenient to the very lazy Republican Party narrative, but it is the reality.

There was never going to be an article of impeachment on "quid-pro-quo". That isn't necessarily something wrong. There was discussion that there could be an article of impeachment alleging "bribery", evidently that was decided against in lieu of the broader charge of "abuse of power". I don't think that decision had anything to do with Joe Biden.
Oh I do. You don't want to bring something fake up against Trump that Biden is actually guilty on camera of.

To all the Trump supporters who said there was "no first hand testimony" during the House Inquiry, you now support hearing from those first hand witnesses during the Senate trial... right?

I mean, you can't on the one hand complain that the process has been unfair, and that all testimony was "hearsay" up to this point, but then reject actually hearing from those who were directly involved... right?

Surely, if you support Trump and truly believe that his call with Ukraine was "perfect" and that he's done nothing wrong, calling such witnesses will clearly prove his innocence... right?

Plus, calling such witnesses opens the door to allow Republicans to call witnesses including Hunter Biden, the WB, Shiff, the Kool Aid man, whoever they want.

So, you support this... right?

I mean, more transparency is a good thing... right?

The intriguing question about the ongoing debate between McConnell and Shumer to set the rules of the Senate trial is what if they don't reach an agreement on this and other matters? Does SCOTUS CJ Roberts opine on procedural issues ad hoc along the way? Does the GOP simply try to shut down the entire process without witnesses? It's not a question as to whether or not these first hand witnesses have salient testimony to share - Bolton has already said he does, for instance. Rather, the question now is whether the GOP will allow factual witnesses to be heard.

If not, clearly the facts are not with the GOP.

"Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer made it clear in a letter to Majority Leader Mitch McConnell Sunday night that he prefers a Senate impeachment trial with witness testimony and new documents, a direct rebuttal to top Republicans who have argued in recent days that a shorter trial without witnesses would spare the Senate from becoming a partisan circus. In the letter obtained by CNN, Schumer, a New York Democrat, called for at least four witnesses to testify, including acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney, former national security adviser John Bolton, senior adviser to the acting White House chief of staff Robert Blair and Office of Management and Budget official Michael Duffey.
I say sure. Let the firsthand witnesses come but if all they have is their opinion Trump did something wrong, which is all we have to this point, then this thing should be dropped.

Crackhead kid was worried his $50K per month job was in jeopardy so he had to get daddy to withhold aid until the mean prosecutor was fired. There’s your bribery or quid pro quo

I wish we could really see how he votes in that booth .
Is George Conway wrong? In terms of policy, and without mentioning the name of "Donald Trump", can you describe what the core Republican values are right now? I can describe what they were 30 years ago - smaller government, free trade, lower taxes, de-regulation, fiscal conservatism while also being strong on defense. I wouldn't know where to start now. Smaller government is out, free trade is out, fiscal conservatism is out and strong on defense? That is out too. I guess you still have lower taxes and de-regulation... but are lower taxes fiscally sound when you are such a free spending party?

Never mind that six-page tweet I sent a few hours ago.

That is simply not true. There was not an active investigation into Burisma Holdings at the time that Viktor Shokin was fired. Viktor Shokin wasn't doing his job. Shokin had not obtained any major convictions in the cesspool that is the Ukraine. He was fired for not prosecuting corruption. There was a push by the entire EU to fire him. Your narrative isn't grounded in reality.

There’s no such thing as free trade , ever . Not one politician cares about the amount of money we spend , they are just pandering if they say they do . Small government ideology in DC is a myth . Lowering practical taxes ( middle class )is nothing more than a money shuffle / slight of hand and a lot of pats on the back . The old liberal party is gone , the old Republican Party is gone , I didn’t say he was wrong I said I’d like to see who he votes for in that booth . You don’t run your mouth like he does publicly about your wife’s boss and nothing comes from it . I don’t buy it for a second .

...and if he is so sure that being impeached will help his re-election chances, then why is he belly-aching so much about it right now?

When has Trump not complained about something ? Don’t think for a second he won’t use the impeachment in his rallies and on the trail in 2020 . Lol
