The Impeachment Thread

That is the Fox News staff trying to put a positive spin on their own poll numbers. The writer, Dana Blanton, even admits that their poll found that approval for impeachment has increased among Independents since their last poll, from 38%-45%. Trump's approval numbers "ticked up" from 42%-45%. LOL.

The Fox News staff was really hoping to advance a Republican talking point that the impeachment hearings have been good for Trump and they have backfired on Democrats. The Fox News pollsters are neutral professionals and they didn't cooperate.

It also said:

On other issues related to impeachment, voters say:
  • 53 - 44 percent that the president abuses the power of his office;
  • 52 percent that the president was pursuing his own personal interest in his dealings with Ukraine to 40 percent that he was pursuing the national interest;
  • 48 - 40 percent that President Trump held up military aid to Ukraine because he wanted the Ukrainian president to announce investigations that would benefit Trump politically;
  • 48 - 44 percent that the president has committed any crimes while in office.
Nearly two thirds, 64 percent, say it is not acceptable for the President of the United States to ask a foreign leader to investigate a political rival, while 23 percent say it is acceptable.

Is Quinnipiac a poll we can trust now? Asking for a friend.

You have to apply doublethink properly. Once that is done, then you can both trust and not trust in this poll. Not only that, you can believe the president whose associates go to prison for corrupt dealing at an unprecedented rate is the only person able to stop corruption in this world.

Exactly. At the core of this, lies a hypothetical question :

If Joe Biden wasn't running for President of the United States in 2020, would Donald Trump have still solicited President Zelensky of the Ukraine for assistance with investigating Burisma Holdings / Hunter Biden?

Besides Trump's past associations with convicted felons such as his personal attorney and fixer Michael Cohen, campaign manager Paul Manafort and General Michael Flynn, you also have self-dealing cabinet members such as Scott Pruitt, Ryan Zinke, Tom Price, Wilbur Ross and Elaine Chao. There is nothing to indicate that Donald Trump cares about corruption and self-dealing. In this matter involving the Ukraine, he cared about politically damaging a potential future opponent of his in the 2020 general Presidential election. That self-serving desire of Trump's was at the center of the activity that followed.

If Trump hadn't won the election would Manafort or Cohen been investigated?

No... but that has nothing to do with whether or not Trump abused his power as President of the United States, when he withheld military aid to the Ukraine.

You're correct it doesn't. I was just pointing out that "elections have consequences"

That isn't true at all ... support for impeachment hasn't changed. Fox News has support for impeachment at 50%... with 41% opposed.
“However, opposition to impeachment has increased since the hearings began. Prior to the start of impeachment hearings, in an October 23 poll, support for impeachment was 48 - 46 percent.”

Pelosi knew it was only going to get worse. They decided to cut bait and file 2 lame articles “obstruction of congress” and “abuse of power”. Pretty weak considering what you lunatics have been ranting about for the last 3 years.

I guess it depends on which poll you prefer to lean on... Fox News has approval for impeachment at 50%. The reality is, none of the polls have shown much change at all. Quinnipiac included. It's still down party lines. The Republican Party talking point has been that the impeachment hearings have helped Trump and there just isn't anything to prove that.

I see that most of the news wasn't good for Trump in that poll.
