Vindman explained why he felt it was a backhand. Republicans haven't exactly been very respectful of him since he testified. They scream innocent until proven guilty unless you have a purple heart/combat infantryman badge and felt that a phone call from the President was unusual. And what is it with not worrying about possible corruption but the dirty rat who told? What has happened to the Republican party?

As for Volker, he sat squarely in the middle. Phone call from President was fine, (but obviously did set off alarms as his actions afterwards show) and Biden is above reproach.

I really don't care if they question the Bidens, but also lets get Rudy and some of these others in there and find out what is really going on. Why won't Trump blame Russia for anything?

Definitely not a nothing burger.

Sondland would be wise to just come clean - that beeping sound is Trump's bus backing towards him.

I expect this will be the focus of the republicans, especially Jordan. I know it’s wishful thinking, but I would love if the upcoming assault on his credibility would cause him to just say **** it and completely come clean.

I really don't think he has much of a case. Maybe needed to get them a Johnny Cochran type in there to get some smoke and mirrors -- look over here---if it doesn't fit, you must acquit kind of thing. (which is what the others are doing focusing on the whistleblower and conspiracy theories, I guess) From the polls, it appears most of us see through all this grandstanding and silliness, anyway. The question is whether Trump is so corrupt that he should be replaced.

DERSHOWITZ: It's not any kind of a crime. It may be a political sin — that's a good reason for deciding who to vote for — but it's not a good reason for removing a duly-elected president. The Framers had a debate about this, and they rejected the concept of "maladministration" as a ground for ...impeachment. You need to show bribery, treason, or high crimes and misdemeanors. And even in the worst-case scenario by the phone call, it's not there.
