The Impeachment Thread

What's the rational reasonable thought behind denying Clinton did anything wrong when he admitted to breaking the law? Not sure how you can justify that and remain in reality, but I'm up for being entertained.
I have never once said Clinton did nothing wrong. Clinton did wrong in multiple ways.
And you insinuate I am the one not operating within reality.

Yeah I simply cannot imagine why the Ukrainians are denying everything after the republican lawyer yesterday floated the defense that Trump, the guy who leads “lock her up” chants; celebrates the idea of doing “worse than waterboarding;” and lashes out at everyone, including his own employees, when they’re not obsequious enough for him, was just being vindictive because they said mean **** about him during the election.

Probably has nothing to do with what they said to Taylor while this was going on that they didn’t want to get wrapped up in US domestic politics. Why would they contradict Mulvaney, Sondland, Taylor, Vindman, Volker, and the text messages? Just doesn’t make any sense. Only explanation is that Trump is a total sweetheart who did nothing wrong in his whole life.
Oh FFS 🤦‍♂️ “We better agree with him or he will torture us!”

What could possibly be the incentive for the President of Ukraine to not piss off the most vindictive POTUS in history?
So he really does have to fear the US? The most vindictive POTUS in US history also was the POTUS whose admin provided actual aid instead of just strong words of support during their trying times. Zelensky had nothing to fear on retribution, the great divider and his crony VP were gone.

Where is the Judiciary in all this ? Isn't the process once the House votes to open impeachment, it then goes to hte judiciary to carry out basically what is going on now? Why is the Chairman of the IC running the show?

The House is tasked with drafting articles of impeachment.

The trial is held in the Senate presided over by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

Smoke, yes. But when all the major parties deny impropriety and the best they have is hearsay, I'm not sure you really have a case. But I'm not sure that matters either. I fully expect this to divide along party lines. I can't escape the feeling this is more political theater than actual inquiry.

So if it's proven beyond reasonable doubt that President Trump bribed / extorted / quid pro quo'd Ukraine for his own political benefit, you do NOT believe Trump should be removed?

Dems are losing this big time. They should just make this like the final episode of Seinfeld. Call all prominent TDSers to the stand. Rosie ODonnell, Pussy Hats, Jim Acosta, Jim Comey, Stormy Daniels, ISIS, the whistleblower. Impeach him for not being a Good Samaritan.
Explains why Trump is in full blown panic mode and desperately trying to keep everyone under his thumb from testifying.
At the same time he's appealing to the SCOTUS in one last attempt to block the release of his tax returns. The very same tax returns which he promised the American voting public he would in fact gladly release on multiple occasions.

Yes finally, those tax returns are the most pressing issue of our time. I will be so much more at peace once I see those tax returns

LOL.....It makes you think Trump should have just released them as he promised the American voting public on multiple occasions.
It's almost as if he's attempting to hide something.

First, it's none of our business. Second, he made a lot of $$ and likely took advantage of every loophole to not pay millions in taxes and to that I say good for him.

2011
"Maybe I'm going to do the tax returns when Obama does his birth certificate," Trump told ABC's George Stephanopoulos.
"I may tie my tax returns, I'd love to give my tax returns, I may tie my tax returns into Obama's birth certificate."
(Obama released birth certificate)

2012
"Romney must release his tax returns, ASAP."

2014
"If I decide to run for office, I'll produce my tax returns, absolutely. And I would love to do that"

2015
Trump assured that he'd release the returns as part of his proof that he "would make money for our country."
"I would certainly show tax returns if it was necessary," he said in a February radio interview with Hugh Hewitt.
As the year neared its ends, and Trump surged in the GOP primary polls, he said he was "thinking about" letting the returns out.

2016
" I'm thinking about maybe when we find out the true story on Hillary's email," he told ABC News in October.
"At some point I'll release it."
(Hillary was found to be innocent)

In January 2016, Trump said he and his campaign were "working on" getting the returns out, but it was hard because it "is not, like a normal tax return."

2017
"Well, I'm not releasing the tax returns because as you know, they're under audit."

And there you go folks!
