The Impeachment Thread

It's Halloween. Only appropriate to make the witch hunt official.

So you don't call the largest midterm shellacking in U.S. history a win?

There is ample evidence that Trump is an albatross around the GOP's neck. Why not just admit his crimes and flush him down his gold toilet?

Cool, so why do you all ignore the election results from the Senate races? PS we all know why

Besides burning it down, what do you suggest?

I suggest turning congress back into a part time job. A job that only those that really want to serve will run for.

1. Limit the amount of days congress can be in session to 90 outside of national emergency. And that is consecutive days not business days.
2. Adjust pay accordingly.
3. Eliminate the pension and lifetime healthcare.
4. Provide them housing while in DC, a dorm and do away with per-diem.
5. (concession to you) Limit political donations to individuals only. Unions, PACs, corporations cannot donate.
6. End lifetime appointments to federal courts.

Above is where I would start.

For the most part we have opening statements, that include some relevant points. Such as Vindman raising concerns over the omissions of particular requests made to the Ukranian president. I don't see that the WH has denied the omissions occured.

For anyone to say that these accounts aren't relevant to establishing a Quid Pro Quo, they already have their minds made up, and will only dismiss further details as irrelevant, because Trump says he didn't do it.
100% agree on your second paragraph. Even impeachment skeptical republicans like Jonah Goldberg are saying that the only real defense left is that it’s just not impeachable conduct.

At least that’s a subjective criteria and opinions can differ.

Every house seat was up for election. Only some Senate seats were up. If every Senate seat were up the Dems would garner more votes but probably not the majority of seats. That's just where we are at right now.

Then you guys should have no problems holding the house, taking the senate and presidency next year.

Back to metaphors: Even though we lost we out-gained them.

I'm not on a team. I just vote for the least sh*tty candidate. If the GOP could get rid of Trump, then that would very likely be a Republican.

I do think the left actually has a shot at winning an election against an incumbent with an economy sitting at what, 3.5 percent unemployment.

If he loses in this environment, Trump would have to go down as the worst politician in U.S. history. Keep the wool over your eyes, though. Everything is going great!

Here's the problem though. We had just exited an investigation that spanned more than a year focused on whether Trump had worked with Russians to obtain election help, and just ONE day after Mueller had testified about that investigation Trump is on the phone soliciting election help from a foreign power ... and using US taxpayer money to do it. The "it's not an impeachable offense" argument is really based on Trump's incompetence and inexperience (he's a real estate dealmaker, inexperienced, etc), but that rings hollow here given the subject of the Mueller investigation.

I agree that if he loses it's on him and there is no excuse.

I have never said "everything is going great" congress and the administration both are nothing but a **** show right now.

Let's cover that then, sparky.

The Democrats got 58 percent of the vote in the 2018 Senate race and were defending 24 seats.

Here is a list of 2018 Democrats who would have lost their seats, or not have been elected, if any Republican other than Trump was POTUS:

1. Bob Menendez - New Jersey
2. Jacky Rosen - Nevada
3. John Tester - Montana
4. Kyrsten Sinema - Arizona
5. Joe Manchin - West Virginia

That any of these first five are in the Senate is frankly insane incompetence by the GOP even with Trump dragging them under.

6. Debbie Stabenow - Michigan
7. Sherrod Brown - Ohio
8. Tammy Baldwin - Wisconsin

These three are low hanging fruit too.

What are you getting from Trump to compensate for ceding so much political power to the left?
