Would you be as outraged if Obama withheld funds from a country in order to investigate hypothetical corruption by Trump even though it would’ve been hypocritical considering his own corruption by he and his administration?

The “political rival” wasn’t the primary target of the conversation...it was of 2016 meddling. The “political rival” was the VP point man in a country we are aiding in part to eliminate corruption. The “political rival” once made a similar demand to the one being made now. The “political rival” is the father of a board member of, from all appearances, a corrupt company founded by a former corrupt Ukrainian politician. And, the “political rival” wouldn’t be such if he had never entered a presidential primary he wasn’t going to win anyway.

Edit: to be clear, I’m of the opinion both sides are right. Biden and his family are neck deep in the Ukraine, and Trump was looking for dirt since Joe entered the race.

If that was a lawyer question, this is a lawyer answer.

IMO, the president should not have any involvement in directing any investigations of the DOJ and should be even more carefully excluded from investigations that touch on political rivals. Traditionally, the president has not directed specific investigations at DOJ.

The idea that this was just about 2016 has been rendered comical by the proof.

The way he said it and within context, it was much closer to an admission of guilt.

You prove what they say about “assumptions”....But I don’t know what actually went down. There’s not actual proof that he did only hearsay. All I hear is a lot of crying with no substance. To be honest I don’t care or see it as a big deal anyway. All you care about is your tender feelings and not the fact Biden & son are the real crooks here.

Not sure how what I am advocating in this discussion has anything to do with socialism vs capitalism, but I'd love to get your take on it.

Very adult response. So you DO think the government is entitled to your money, and you do trust them to give our children the very best education. If the latter is true, why is it that we see from time to time all these complaints from teacher's unions about how undersupplied, overworked and underpaid they are?
