It is emblematic of what I've been talking about for awhile now. The election of Trump is the last death gasp of a Republican party that is just seething with racial and other resentments. The changing demographics of the country scare the crap out of them, and they voted for a guy who told then it was okay to hate.

That is how we have ended up with Trump. And it will spring up and kill the GOP as a political force in the years soon to come

We can only hope it does. Maybe we can finally get legitimate, liberty loving, small government conservatives to replace the GOP.

We ended up with Trump because a lot of Democrats and left leaning independents in the Midwest crossed over and supported him. Blame your party’s nominee for failing to present a coherent economic message. If she had done so, she’d be occupying the White House right now. But oh I forgot you’re a democrat, so it’s easier for you to just call everyone a racist.

Could be. But a simple return to those basic principles by the GOP of Trump I don't think is possible. It will have to be a splinter from the party that eschews the things that got Trump elected.
