Bill Barr: Hunter Biden Investigation Warrants a Special Counsel After FBI Whistleblowers’ Revelations

Former Attorney General Bill Barr said on Thursday that President Joe Biden’s top law enforcement officer should appoint a special counsel in the Hunter Biden investigation, following revelations by whistleblowers within the FBI that top brass were working to discredit allegations against the first son.

Trump-appointed U.S. prosecutor David Weiss is investigating Hunter and associates for tax violations and lying to law enforcement about illegally purchasing a firearm, CNN reported. Assistant Attorney General for the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) National Security Division, Matthew Olsen, on Thursday confirmed to Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) in a congressional hearing the agency is investigating Hunter Biden.

I’ve been of the opinion since the first impeachment that Biden absolutely set his kid up while he was Vice President. My contention is that he knew he was leaving office. And by all measures, Hillary was going to win in 2016 and likely 2020 keeping him from ever holding public office again. I think he allowed Hunter to use him as Vice President as kind of an inheritance and Joe would never be in the public eye or dead before anyone found out.

But….nothing will happen.

Report: Hunter Biden’s Alarmed Business Partner Called Joe Biden ‘the Big Guy’ Again in 2020

Hunter Biden’s business partner, James Gilliar, who dubbed President Joe Biden ‘the big guy’ in a 2017 email, called Joe Biden “the Big Guy” again in a text conversation the day the “Laptop from Hell” series began publishing in 2020, the New York Post reported Wednesday.

Gilliar, a former British special forces officer and past business partner with the Biden family, received a “panicked” message from an unnamed person on October 14, 2020, about Joe Biden’s involvement with the family business, on the same day the Post began breaking the Hunter Biden “laptop from hell” series.

The string of messages appears to further confirm Joe Biden’s involvement in the family business, at least 17 instances of which have been reported, though Joe Biden and his staff have claimed 7 times the president has had no part in the family business. The conversation between Gilliar and the unnamed partner displayed concern at the time that the Biden camp would attempt to pin responsibility for the Post’s revelations on Hunter’s associates.

Grassley: FBI Engaged in ‘Political Interference’ in Hunter Biden Cover-Up

During this week’s broadcast of Fox News Channel’s “Sunday Night in America,” Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) weighed in on whistleblowers within the FBI, alleging that top brass were working to discredit allegations against Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden.

Grassley, who penned a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray and Attorney General Merrick Garland saying that sources within the bureau showed him evidence of attempts to downplay or discredit information about Hunter Biden, said the effort to label reports about the younger Biden as “disinformation” was “political interference” by the FBI.

“We had concrete information about a lot of things of Hunter Biden has done, and he stopped that and labeled it as disinformation,” Grassley stated. “Now, that is political interference in the FBI. And it is going to cause people to lose credibility in the FBI, and every citizen ought to have the most confidence you could ever have an agency like the FBI.”

Ron Johnson Rips FBI for Covering for Hunter Biden — ‘You Can’t Trust Them’

Sunday on FNC’s “Fox & Friends Weekend,” Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) reacted to whistleblowers within the FBI claiming that top brass were working to discredit allegations made against Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden, as the elder Biden was running for commander-in-chief.

Johnson said he was not “shocked” but did find the effort to help the Bidens “outrageous.” He suggested it was proof the FBI and Department of Justice could not be trusted.

“[F]irst of all, thank God for those whistleblowers. We need a whole lot more of them in the FBI, the Department of Justice, and our federal health agencies,” Johnson outlined. “They need to come forward and start talking to us.”

FBI director Christopher Wray testified he found it “deeply troubling” when he read recent whistleblower allegations that bureau agents had falsely labeled accurate information about Hunter Biden as disinformation during the FBI’s investigation in 2020.

Whistleblower allegations emerged last month that FBI supervisory intelligence agent Brian Auten opened an assessment in August 2020, which was used by FBI headquarters to label accurate information about President Joe Biden’s son as false, according to disclosures made public by Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA), while a whistleblower said Timothy Thibault, the FBI assistant special agent in charge of the Washington Field Office, shut down a line of inquiry into Hunter Biden in October 2020 despite some of the details being known to be true at the time.
