I enjoyed your analysis. Good stuff, thx. The PSU thought might have some merit for her, have to roll that one around in my head for a bit. She might be looking for an East Coast gig, where she knows the recruiting footprint better, PSU is close enough to that territory, am sure it would be something she would consider.Probably true but Rutgers is not a bad job. While the available NIL budget is likely limited, the area around New York/New Jersey is rife with talent. Actually, given that Rutgers football is a perennial loser, I would think that building up the basketball program (both men's and women's) is a winning proposition. Certainly, we are talking about a multiyear rebuild but if done capably the program could really take off.
As far as better jobs, Penn State and possibly Northwestern are the only ones that strike me as possibilities. Given that Penn State football generates a great deal of money with the right support the Lady Lions could be turned into an attractive destination to recruits from the portal or high school. Still, like Rutgers, Penn State is a complete rebuild. As far as Northwestern, I see it as potentially Vanderbilt North, great academics and a lovely campus with lots of prominent, deep-pocketed, alumni. Again, it's a starting from zero proposition but if done right (like Shea Ralph's rebuild of the 'dores) it could potentially really take off.
I don't know. I would think that both Denise Dillon (Villanova) and Lindsay Edmonds (Rice) would be in greater demand than Laroque just based on recent success.I was thinking Lindy Laroque from UNLV might begin to get some mentions for some of these openings. Although it has been a down year (for her standards) at UNLV this year. She lost 2 excellent players to Az State and Miami. I don't want to see her go....but money talks these days.
Ever felt the inside of your nose hairs freezing in winter? That's Northwestern.Probably true but Rutgers is not a bad job. my partner is also flabbergasted by the idea of someone wanting to hire Yo, but if your expectations are moderate it doesn't seem to be the worst hire. You'll probably upset some teams but you'll also play ugly ugly offense. Cotie helped them a lot this year. But she still can’t coach offense. Not sure the move would help anything.
Cotie is a scoring machine. Tough as nails and a fiery competitor, she is a great, great player to my eye.my partner is also flabbergasted by the idea of someone wanting to hire Yo, but if your expectations are moderate it doesn't seem to be the worst hire. I think they are content with her and focusing on football to compete with Texas and the rest of the SEC. Men’s Basketball and Baseball are probably higher up on the list too. Crazy for a school that has a championship though.Anyone surprised as I am Joni Taylor kept that job as A&M? She must be related to someone big at that school. 1.5 million a season to finish near the bottom of the SEC. Only school on the same dumbness level with Tennessee
