Look at the boards and compare the outsider coming to our boards during Lame Kats hire and CDD hires.

Non Vols were laughing and stating the mistake we made with Lame.

Look at what the Non-Vol fans are saying about CDD on their boards and on hours

There is a world of difference. Attitude is changing about what we have coaching at UT now because they know we have found a Coach.

Get with the program

Opposing fans came on here when Kiffy was hired because they felt threatened, just in the same way they came on here when Fulmer was canned and expressed sorrow.

When Saban was hired at Bama, how many TN fans went to a Bama board and posted positive remarks? I would guess not many, why? because deep down you knew your program was about to lose it's battle on the field. So instead of going to a Bama board and singing praise for their new hire, people went on there and talked smack of how he would leave them in a few years, he would get them in trouble with the NCAA, etc, etc etc. Our new coach does not pose a threat to the opposing teams success so of course they are going to praise this hire.

So by reading boards you can tell how good coach is. Wow, never knew it was that easy.

I hope the Dooley era is successful, but the fact remains he's a lack luster hire. In the SEC you will always be compared to the big boys, currently Saban and Meirs. And the fact is, when they were hired there was no doubt and solid evidence that they could create championship teams. With Dooley, it's more hope that he can. When we needed to we just couldn't score an established championship caliper coach. All we can do now is hope for the best.

Some ingenius person needs to put together a Youtube type of clip showing the first presser that Lame did and Dooley did. It's no contest at least those with Vol blood in their veins.

I think the point of the thread is that all said about lame tuned out to be true, even though he sucked most of us in. I was with lame simply because he was our head coach.
But I am with DD 100 percent He is a better fit for our program and our traditions.

I tend to agree with your assessment, it's kind of a twisted psychology thing ... saying the opposite of what you actually think. In this case however, it may be a false sense of security because there is not a significant enough "body of work" to judge CDD's abilities. Coaching at LaTech with all the monetary constraints, travel demands and "David and Goliath" scheduling would be a challenge for any coach. Even though his record this year was 4-8 LaTech lost 3 games by 2 points or less and played Boise State within 12 and LSU within 8.

Of course it's too early to tell but I think we've got a "diamond in the rough" and if we give him time to acclimate to this level of play I think we will have a top flight coach and program in Knoxville for a long time. Hopefully the apple didn't fall far from the tree.
